HDR is looking for a Substation Protection & Control EIT I to join our growing and nationally ranked team of Power Delivery professionals in our Charlotte or Raleigh, NC office.

Primary Responsibilities

The primary duties are to perform engineering tasks with varying levels of complexity, which are assigned by a Lead Project Engineer or Project Manager.

Specific Duties Include

• Perform other duties as needed
• Work with assistance from Project Engineers, other Electrical EITs or Technicians as needed
• Conduct analyses to develop electrical design options or recommendations, and assist in the preparation of cost estimates and specifications
• Perform routine electrical engineering assignments, with instruction from the Project Engineer or Project Manager regarding the expected results
• Work on projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables
• Work on small projects, or assist more-senior engineers on larger projects

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• EIT or ability to obtain within 12 months. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Designer" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.
• Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects
• Strong computer skills, Microsoft Office, and electrical design software

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with electrical power system analysis, electrical system planning, protective device application, or substation design
• Experience doing control system applications is highly preferred
• Familiarity or willingness to learn electrical design software such as MicroStation and AutoCAD
• Preference is given to local candidates
