Job Summary
The Design Engineer is primarily responsible for the engineering design of projects. In most cases, the Design Engineer is part of a team consisting of a Production Engineer, Design Engineer, and Engineering Project Manager, all focused on one or more clients and or projects.
Responsibilities Of a Civil Design Engineer

• Review agency coordination and communication
• Responsible for and assure deadlines are met, and communicate with the Project Manager any and all design issues that emerge that will change deadlines or deliverables
• Provide the primary engineering design for the project., i.e. utilities, grading, and drainage, details, notes, specifications, stormwater modeling, construction drawings, etc., as the project scope demands
• Engage in client coordination on an as-needed basis as directed by the Project Manager. Client contact is not a primary responsibility of this position however, client contact and communication will be needed from time to time
• Provide construction services and inspection as needed.
• Attend and participate in project coordination meetings with the Project Manager
• Work closely with and manage the efforts and work of technicians assigned to the project
• Coordinate schedule, deadlines, and deliverables with the Project Manager
• Draft applications and forms, prepare documents required for submittals, and identify all fees associated with the document and submittal process
• Conduct site visits and take photos at project inception to capture initial conditions
• Coordinate with sub-consultants and associated companies working with JBPro on the project (Geotechnical, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Lighting, etc.).
• Coordinate with the JBPro surveying department on mutual projects

Qualifications Of a Civil Design Engineer

• Capable of taking feedback from peers, superiors, and clients, then using that feedback to improve, enhance, and fine-tune your designs.
• EI Certificate preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required
• 2 – 4 years of experience in civil engineering
• Experience with and skilled in the use of CAD software is required, AutoCAD experience and expertise is preferred

Design Engineering at JBPro is diverse in scope and requires someone who wants to become fully immersed in the design process across multiple projects and clients, including internal collaboration with our Land Surveying Department.
