Under direct supervision of a registered Imaging Technologist, follows established protocols and guidelines while performing a wide variety of diagnostic procedures. Responsible for the production of high-quality diagnostic images needed to provide physicians with clinical data to aid in establishing a diagnosis. Provides good customer service when explaining any patient preparation, patient scheduling, and procedure instructions and processes. What you will do:
- Assists with patient treatments as delegated, i.e., transportation, documentation, exam completion, and exam protocols.
- Is open to constructive direction; recognizes strengths and needs for improvement, takes opportunities to improve performance, knowledge, and skills.
- Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental, and physical comfort of patients while the department's care. Delivers quality patient care with respect for patient rights, dignity, and age specific needs. Complies with Safety and Infection Control Policy & Procedure.
- Report’s deficiencies in patient care to the registered technologist as they occur to ensure that patient care is adequate and delivered appropriately. Assists the Registered Technologist on providing patient care from a holistic approach.
- Assist with activities of imaging scans as delegated by the registered technologist.
- Establishes effective rapport with patients, family, co-workers, and other departments. Provides age and diversity appropriate instruction/education to patients.
- Identifies and communicates significant changes in patient's status (potential or actual
- Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Mercy and Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
- Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic imaging examinations. Uses cognitive skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
- Maintains imaging equipment and work area, and maintains adequate supplies, and monitors outdates. Report’s equipment failures to the appropriate staff member.
- Maintains a daily log of patients seen, completes exam verification for billing purposes, and performs related clerical duties as required.
- Complies with health and safety standards and guidelines such as maintaining a safe environment, reporting, and recording of health and safety-related incidents, demonstrating understanding of emergency plans, and safe use of department equipment.
- Analyzes images, synthesizes diagnostic information and medical history, and discusses findings with the registered technologist.
- Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks while addressing crises as they arise.
What we are looking for:
- High school diploma/GED required.
- Requires enrollment in an approved Diagnostic Imaging program.
- Must be BLS certified within 3 months of hire.
