Structural Steel Estimator Jobs

GMF Steel Group is looking for a high-energy, competitive, and detail-oriented Estimator to join our team. There is great opportunity for career growth and development, and this person will be trained accordingly.
This is not a remote position. It is required to be in-person in Lakeland, FL.
Responsibilities:

• Take-off of materials, shop labor, field labor, equipment requirements.
• Note and reference any areas of the bid documents that require additional explanation and if allowances or exclusions must be noted.
• Determine practical and efficient erection schemes along with the labor force and equipment required.
• Determine quantities and types of members required to complete project scope.
• Determine shop operations along with the total time for each required to complete project scope in the most efficient manner.
• Evaluate all contract documents including specifications, drawings, general conditions, and special provisions.
• Understand and foresee complex fabrication and erection scenarios, and adjust to account for them in bid proposal.
• Prepare proposals including structural steel, miscellaneous metals, detailing, installation/erection, and various other special conditions.

Qualifications:

• Ability to read and understand construction plans preferred.
• Experience in Commercial General Contracting Estimating preferred.
• Written and oral communication skills.
• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or business, or relevant experience in fabrication/erection/detailing experience.
• Strong time-management and organizational skills required.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office full suite, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Salary:

• $60,000 - $85,000/year
• Based on experience
