Job Title: Street Outreach Coordinator
Department: Youth Crisis and Career Services
Report to: Program Manager
Status: Full-Time
Pay: $25 - $28/Hr.
Position Summary:
The Street Outreach Coordinator position requires an individual be comfortable presenting, representing, and collaborating with youth and outside partners. Under the direction of the YCCS Programs Manager and Director; this role will oversee the function of our street-based services and Violence Prevention. The coordinator will need to have the ability to build rapport with youth ages 12-24 years old to provide services to those who would not otherwise have access to resources. This position requires knowledge and experience with victims of human trafficking, gang culture and awareness; and a passion to assist individuals experiencing homelessness.
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:
· The coordinator directly supervises outreach workers and violence prevention advocate; to ensures program(s) compliance with service goals and objectives
· Provide community referrals for health, housing, and employment services. Ability to facilitate access to community resources as necessary
· Ensures staff fulfill the Homeless Management Information Systems (HMIS) data completion needs and the collection of data necessary for reports in a timely and accurate manner
· Create and Monitor work schedules, budgets, and expenditures
· Develop systems that collaborate with other departments and partners
· Implement and develop effective outreach and prevention events and programs
· Adheres to the confidentiality policy regarding participants at all times
· Collaborative with YCCS Coordinators Team to create streamline access to services for street based and at-risk youth populations
· Participate on Boards, community groups and roundtables to educate and advocate for the at-risk youth population and share resources with community partners
· Monitor the delivery of services to ensure success transitions into housing for youth experiencing homelessness
· Evaluate and provide feedback on current practices to improve Youth Crisis and Career Services Programs
· Ability to develop relationships with local law enforcement, crisis intervention resources and community partners
· Actively seek opportunities to educate the community on youth trends and SAY services
· Demonstrate strong oral communication skills
· Create presentations, trainings to staff, youth and partners
· Maintain a strong social media presence and assist in the creation of both traditional and non-traditional marketing materials
· Knowledge of trends related to substance usage, homelessness, gangs and human trafficking
· Ability to balance a case load and maintain organized files
· Ensure programs are observing protocols to working with victims of violence and human trafficking
· Work evening or weekend hours as required
· Participate and deliver training and supervision
· Perform other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Knowledge of challenges which may affect homeless transitional aged youth including mental health, poverty, life skills development etc.
· Ability to work with youth, volunteers, and diverse communities of individuals
· Demonstrated strong communication skills, both written and verbal
· Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Programs
· Maintain strict confidentiality and boundaries related to clients and other agencies
· Availability to have a flexible work schedule
· Ability to work independently with minimal direction
· Knowledge about various laws, resources, and SAY program eligibilities
Physical, Environmental and Mental Requirements:
· Physical: Frequently required to perform moderately difficult manipulate tasks such as typing writing, filing etc. Must be able sit and stand for extended periods, ascend/ descend stairs and walk extended periods of time
· Sensory: Frequently required to read documents, written reports and plans in lively environments.
· Cognitive: Frequently required to concentrate on moderate detail with frequent interruption. Must be able to attend to a task/ function for 20-45 minutes at a time.
· Frequently required to understand and relate to specific ideas, several at time.
· Environmental conditions: frequent exposure to varied office and mixed (residential/ office) environments.
· Equipment: Frequently required to use a computer, phone and other office machinery.
