Job Description
Nextern is hiring for the role Strategic Sourcing Manager. This role comes with competitive pay and a full benefits package (details below)


A primary objective of our sourcing team is to develop and execute strategies that align with long range business requirements, immediate and critical focus on capacities and supply chain resilience, and global commodity strategies.


The Strategic Sourcing Manager will influence and lead our internal stakeholders and engineering partners on requirements, supplier engagement and selection, process improvements, new technologies, etc. In addition, this Sourcing Manager will be critical in the process the ongoing efforts to identify, assess and develop suppliers. With select relationships, there will be focus on ongoing development and improving processes, reduce overall costs, deliver greater value, etc.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


Sourcing


  • Manage the supplier selection and approval process for all existing and new manufacturing suppliers.
  • Define and execute the regional sourcing strategy, including defining approach to market, managing sourcing event documentation and supplier invites, evaluating results, leading negotiations on price and terms, and awarding suppliers.
  • Define optimal alignment across strategic sources, training internal teams on processes to engage and enhancing our development processes to better align.
  • Work with Finance on inventory control.
  • Manage buying activities from requestors, understand business needs and requirements, direct along appropriate channels, and resolve any inquiries and disputes.
  • Work closely with and engage on initiative-taking information sharing with other Global Sourcing Team Members to optimize supply base.


Category Management


  • Identifies all suitable suppliers per commodity and region per sample RFQ and develops comprehensive supplier knowledge & database.
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies in key sourcing categories that results in a sustainable competitive advantage.
  • Assess ongoing changes in business requirements and define and implement regional category strategies that address business needs, maximize value creation, and minimize risks while remaining innovative.
  • Perform data analytics, forecast demand, and identify baselines for purchasing that meet prioritized business requirements.


Stakeholder Management


  • Be involved with New Product Development to bring in materials to align with program milestones.
  • Interact with Site Operational Procurement Teams.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, internal and external to identify needs, address concerns, resolve disputes, and influence change management activities.
  • Strengthen partnerships across the Global operations organization as well as Business Unit development teams.


Supplier Management


  • Build and manage strategic supplier relationships.
  • Leverage market analysis, analytics, and observation of the supply base to monitor and minimize risks to the organization.
  • Prioritize and validate potential strategic options, determine the benefits cases for these options, and measure the performance against established KPI benchmarks.
  • Maintain supplier relationships by resolving disputes, establishing governance processes, negotiating commercial terms, and performing stakeholder activities.
  • Strong negotiating experience to drive supplier improvements, contracts, purchasing agreements.
  • Interface with suppliers and the organization on contract creation, review and approval, finalization, and further contract amendments to price and scope.


Team Leadership


  • Own cost saving attainment for assigned suppliers.
  • Focus on team member professional development through coaching and mentoring.
  • Lead a team of buyers for delegated areas of business units by setting team goals and objectives and managing team performance.
  • Work closely with Supplier Quality on crisis and systematic issue resolution.


Requirements


QUALIFICATIONS


  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing sourcing execution and/or category strategies.
  • 5 years of business experience is required, with a minimum of 3 years of procurement experience is preferred.
  • A bachelor’s degree is required, with a preferred concentration in Business, Operations, Finance, Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • Direct and Indirect procurement buying experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years Strategic Procurement (Sourcing) and Supplier Relationship Management experience required.
  • Proven experience in the execution of sourcing events end to end, including price negotiations, vendor quote tracking, supplier selection, and contract review and approval is required.


Preferred:


  • Master’s degree with 2 years of experience in a Business, Finance, or Engineering field.
  • Certification in APICS CPIM or PMP.
