Job Description

As a Storage Area Network (SAN) Administrator, the individual will provide personnel for providing comprehensive Storage administration in an enterprise that includes a mix of Cloud-based/off-premises and on-premises infrastructure. In this role, The Storage Admin will provide technical support for incident response, service degradations, outages, and other service interruptions. In addition, the SAN Administrator will investigate hardware and software problems related to the storage infrastructure and perform corrective actions. Provide onsite support during core business hours as well as on-call support.

Responsibilities:

  • Installs, configures, patches, monitors, troubleshoots, repairs, upgrades, and sustains Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) Devices / appliances in a mix of network environments
  • Engages storage OEM and suppliers to troubleshoot storage issues, obtain OEM-level support, resolve engineering or sustainment issues, which arise with supported storage equipment and services, and document the root cause, and resolution of issues for Government review
  • Creates, administers, validates, and fixes data replication jobs, and provide daily testing and validations of data replication services,
  • Performs daily optimization and performance testing, working with both physically attached and virtual servers, fiber channel switches, storage arrays, storage appliances and other related components and services; perform storage tuning per vendor’s guidance and Government direction
  • Provisions 5 to 10 PB of storage for server and 200 to 400 Logical Unit Numbers (LUNs)
  • Develops, implements, and maintains scripts and/or procedures where applicable or feasible, to enable process automation of routine support tasks for the storage and backup environments; also, print all scripts for Government review before execution in the production environment
  • Configure, operates, and sustains enterprise-level data replications across environments and boundaries in support of COOP activities; validate COOP replication processes and capabilities monthly by testing COOP capabilities; and support COOP exercises and real-world events
  • Upgrades and documents storage, and replication services to address Cloud services, including hybrid configurations, which cross environments and boundaries.
  • Performs other tasks as required by BME and the Government contracting team
  • Plans, executes, and documents changes to storage, and replication services and technologies

Required Qualifications/Education and Experience

  • Must have an industry storage certification such as VMWare Certified Professional or EMC Proven Professional or NetAPP Certified Data Administrator or IBM Certified Storage Specialist
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Storage Area Networks (SANs)
  • Must have a valid Security+ certification
  • Demonstrated ability to provide outstanding customer service experience in a variety of circumstances across all organizational levels
  • Prior experience in storage technologies such as EMC
  • Must have experience with virtualized environments, managing SANs/NAS devices, desktop services, and a variety of technologies supporting computing capabilities
  • Experience in a 24/7 military or government IT environment
  • Must have and maintain a Secret or Higher clearance
