Dog Groomer
Cape Small Animal Clinic (Cape Girardeau, MO)

Required Skills
  • Provides their own grooming tools
  • Ability to work well with a team
  • Understand the basics of grooming
  • Be willing to showcase grooming work by providing our marketing manager with pictures on your cell phone to be posted to clinic social media
  • Feel comfortable with customer service / verbal communication
  • Carry out basic tasks on a computer

  • Ability to accept criticism and work well under pressure
  • Be thorough and pays attention to detail

Daily Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean environment
  • Answer phones for all grooming calls
  • Maintain an upbeat attitude
  • Use medical software to invoice and keep a record of the pet
  • Speak with client on exit, discuss groom and if expectations were met
  • Shape the pet’s coat with electric clippers, scissors, or other appropriate tool
  • Manage daily schedule to groom pets efficiently and send them home on time
  • Discuss expectations and desires for a pet’s groom with the client
  • Ensure company policies are being followed at all times
  • Create a welcoming environment for pets and their owners
  • Work with veterinary staff to ensure pet is medically cared for properly as needed
  • Use electronic schedule to be knowledgeable about upcoming scheduled grooms
  • Arrive on time to scheduled shifts
  • Other duties as needed
  • Shampoo and dry the pet’s coat
  • Manage anxious pets appropriately (stay calm, use fear-free methods, communicate with technicians when medical intervention may be necessary)
  • Communicate with management when grooming products are low or need to be ordered
