• Demonstrate working knowledge of enterprise financial systems and analysis tools, including Microsoft Excel
• Perform routine reconciliation
• Write reports that contain financial data to assist management in monitoring fiscal activity
• Assist with preparing financial statements and regulatory filings on a statutory basis
• Collect, organize, and present information for auditor reviews upon request
• Input data into financial systems to create and maintain complete and accurate financial records
• Complete journal entries by reviewing for reasonableness, comparing to source documentation, and providing referenced backup

• Assist and/or lead ad hoc projects relating to financial reporting
• Complete moderately complex journal entries by reviewing for reasonableness, comparing to source documentation and providing referenced backup before posting entries to the general ledger account
• Update management on accounting standard updates through writing memos and white papers.
• Research regulations, create trend analysis, and present information
• Explain material variances and discrepancies to management
• Review work performance by junior accountants

• At least two years’ experience or equivalent education, training and experience for the Staff Accountant position.
• Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the skills necessary to perform the essential function of the job.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, or experience.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel.
• Up to two years’ experience or equivalent education, training and experience for the Junior Accountant position.
• Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, methods, and theories and the ability to apply such knowledge in practical applications.

• Insurance industry experience.
• Experience using Workday Financials.
• Progress towards CPA and/or MBA.
