Position Summary

This is a remote position.

The Staff Accountant performs the daily responsibilities related to the review, analysis, reconciliation and maintenance of the balance sheet and corporate overhead accounts on a monthly basis. The Staff Accountant will also assist in the recording of transactions and the monthly closing Thales DIS NORAM. The incumbent is also responsible for the periodic financial reporting of results to Thales Group (TG) and Thales USA (TUSA). The Staff Accountant will report directly to the Accounting Manager, and will interact directly with TG and TUSA in the performance of daily general ledger responsibilities.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for the timely reconciliation of accounts, ledgers, and bank statements
  • Assist with internal and external audits
  • Assist in the preparation of Federal / State reporting
  • Assist with review and analysis of overhead reports, and updates to forecasting of expenses during year
  • Bank Data Management (BDM role)
  • Accrue ESB1 R&D recharge for USF1
  • AR Netting - non-TUSA
  • Work with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable to resolve issues relating to departmental billings, disbursements, allocations, and re-charges
  • Support government reporting for CPL FA
  • Record various accruals, amortization and allocation entries
  • Record various journal entries submitted by TG and TUSA for intercompany and month-end close
  • Responsible for the month-end procedures in a timely and accurate manner
  • CPL PPE/fixed assets
  • Postage funding and entries
  • Support completion of Consolidation Package to corporate, including CPL Magnitude CAPEX schedules
  • AP Netting - non-TUSA
  • Responsible for the integrity of the general ledger accounts, ensuring that P&L accounts are used consistently and that all balance sheet account balances can be substantiated
  • NL IC loan interest accrual
  • Support GFACI and GITLO CPL FA requests
  • Process TUSA invoices - entry and payment and reconciliation
  • Prior to close, review ledgers activity to ensure that month-end accruals have been booked, and any unanticipated activity is identified and investigated

Minimum Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of GAAP and IFRS rules
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, ORACLE required
  • Must be detail oriented and be able to multi task
  • Proficient in MS Excel - able to create spreadsheets and manipulate data effectively for analysis; Pivot table and V-lookup experience
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization or definition exists
  • Bachelor of Science degree with minimum 3 - 5 years of experience in accounting
  • Strong communication skills to provide effective communication to US & International contacts
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical aptitude, including interpretation of business reports, periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations
  • Possesses a clear understanding of basic accounting practices for posting journal entries, processing month end close, accruals, deferrals, prepays, accounts receivable and accounts payable
