Position Profile:


The Staff Accountant is a financial business partner with the Accounts Payable and Cost Accounting leadership teams to facilitate and achieve accurate and timely financial information along with supporting month end close activities. The Staff Accountant is expected to work closely with suppliers to ensure proper execution of business practices, contracts, and advancing improvement efforts. The position is an important part of the financial talent pipeline.


Responsibilities:


  • Support accounts payable functions
  • Review packaging and ingredient pricing and ensure price changes are approved by the appropriate customer if needed
  • Assist with month-end close activities
  • Financial role
  • Research and resolve accounts payable issues by working directly with suppliers, plant associates, and our Corporate AP Department
  • Complete account reconciliations and all other reporting as assigned
  • Accounts payable financial reporting and analysis
  • This position works closely with Divisional management, accounting personnel, and Corporate Finance department
  • Post transactions in the ERP system, including journal entries, allocations, reconciliations, inventory revaluation, and adjustments
  • Reporting and Analysis
  • Reports to Accounts Payable Manager
  • Develop and execute systematic processes that ensure strong internal controls including; data integrity, asset protection, and adherence to corporate policies
  • Assist in oversight and analysis of assigned plant inventories
  • Organizational Relationships


Minimum Requirements:


  • 0-3 years of experience in the accounting field
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or relevant discipline
  • Strong financial acumen with demonstrated analytical ability—understands Profit and Loss along with Balance sheet dynamics


Preferred Qualifications:


  • SAP system experience
  • Additional certifications a plus (CPA, CMA, MBA)
  • Proficient use of Excel


Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Skill in critical thinking, analysis, mathematical calculations, and statistical evaluations
  • Able to read, write, and speak English
  • Able to present to diverse audiences from front line team members to senior management
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Skill in quantitative financial analysis techniques, including data interpretation and analysis
  • Knowledge of business theory, business processes, and management
