Staff Accountant Jobs

Path Construction is seeking a qualified Staff Accountant to join our organization in the Chicago, IL area and be part of the accounting team. We are a rapidly growing general contractor headquartered in Arlington Heights, IL with additional offices in Scottsdale, AZ and Charlotte, NC with projects throughout the United States.

Responsibilities

• Working with various levels of operations/estimating personnel to gather project information
• Reconcile bank statements on a monthly basis
• Perform as key contributor in monthly general ledger close including recording of journal entries and complete other schedules for the financial statement preparation within established deadlines. Ensures integrity and accuracy of accounting information.
• Assist with external audits and other third-party requests
• Reconcile sub-ledger detail to general ledger activity
• Create and update spreadsheets to track relevant financial and non-financial information
• Responsible for tracking the progress of the company’s projects including variance analysis and revenue recognition conforming with Percentage of Completion accounting
• Review expense invoices, checks and other supporting documents submitted by field personnel to ensure completeness and to verify compliance with company policies
• Provide support for various projects within the Accounting Department as needed

Requirements
Path Construction is looking for someone with the rights skills and attitude with relevant experience and skills including:

• A college degree in accounting/business administration is desired, but equivalent experience in these fields will be considered
• Exceptional customer service and communication skills, communicating with all levels in the organization
• Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel, Sage Construction CRE 300, and Paychex a plus
• Minimum of 2-5 years previous experience, preferably in a construction project cost environment
• Solid understanding of Accounting and Tax Regulations
