There’s no getting away from the fact this is going to be a challenging environment. You’ll be working with huge-scale data and large, distributed systems that wouldn’t be out of place at Google or Meta and you’ll be coming in as the first US based SRE. You’ll be encouraged to use whatever tool you feel is best for the job and to automate as much as possible.

You’ll be coming into a tech-driven business, so you’ll have limited push back in terms of the power of technology but you’ll be coming in to bring new ideas around efficiency and scalability of the various platforms build and maintained in-house here. Every team is encouraged to push the boundaries of what they can do, and it’ll be no different for you when you come in.

You’ll be working with on-prem Linux and Kubernetes, and you’ll be given free rein to improve the reliability and speed of the entire application estate. There’s a varied tech stack used throughout the business, so you’re not expected to know everything, but you will be encouraged to learn and get stuck into everything you can.

The key element of the global engineering team is that everyone collaborates and shares ideas. There’s a lot of interaction with the wider business to understand what they need from technology and it’s a fluid workflow between tech and finance. In fact, most of the “finance” team would consider themselves “tech” and vice-versa. You’re not going to be siloed because you’re in tech, your worth and importance to the business will be well known from day one.

You’re not just going to be “keeping the lights on” and that’s why you’ll need to have an expert and deep level of knowledge of Linux, ideally RHEL and Kubernetes. Strong scripting skills will of course be an absolute must given the requirement to solidify and IaC mindset in the US and given your level of SRE ability you’ll know what else you’ll need to bring to the table.

Starting salary will be in the range of $150,000-200,000 but bonuses could take your total compensation well above $500,000 in the best of years. Benefits and perks include comprehensive healthcare and an on-site chef cooking breakfast and lunch every day.
