This position is in the Finance System Strategy function within the Finance Controllership organization. The role provides Business Program Management leadership in supporting finance projects for financial planning, revenue, and expense. The person in this role will work across multiple business and technical units within Visa to drive overall project success. Comprehensive day-to-day management of multiple cross-functional global software development projects will be required.


Our program managers are highly visible leaders, building bridges across Visa to ensure projects are effectively developed, integrated, and deployed with quality and on-time delivery into existing systems. They are business-facing, with most interactions with business stakeholders/sponsors and FSS leaders and systems analysts. They are the key liaisons between our business partners and IT.


A strong candidate will have solid experience with Finance technology program management, cross-functional team leadership, as well as skills in communications, business analysis, problem-solving, cross-team coordination, project/program management, finance/business processes, and change management. The candidate is not just an originator or project planner but also ensures project execution and completion.


Essential Functions:


As program manager your job will be to coordinate people and processes to ensure that assigned projects are delivered on time and produce the desired results. Key responsibilities include developing detailed project plans, ensuring resource availability and allocation, and delivering every project on time within budget and scope.


Project Delivery

  • Manage diverse, often geographically dispersed FSS and Finance project teams, setting project activity priorities and tracking to ensure timely completion. Manage vendors to defined deliverables and budget, and review and assess vendor implementation estimates and quality of deliverables. Able to work with cross-functional teams at a global or multi-region capacity, with strong cross-cultural sensitivities.
  • Responsible for working with Change Management team to assess necessary business readiness activities and integrate them into project plans. Able to create change management and communications across the broader Visa organization in support of project implementations.
  • Manage team members progress on tasks as well as manage cross-departmental teams to ensure timelines are met.
  • Responsible for structured initiation of projects including problem definition, desired benefits, business case, scoping, stakeholder identification, governance, and alignment of expectations with stakeholders.
  • Manage and communicate project status, dependencies, risks, and issue resolution and escalate issues as necessary to project sponsor and executive steering committee for resolution.
  • Partner with key cross-functional stakeholders to drive all aspects of complex initiatives, including scope definition, developing project plans, managing dependencies, executing with a high degree of accuracy and integrity, and keeping supporting groups on task.
  • Develop a detailed work breakdown structure (WBS) and drive accountability for timely and quality output of deliverables. Actively manage delivery, dependencies, and critical path of the plan.
  • Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques. Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule, and costs.
  • Responsible for ensuring user acceptance testing (UAT) deliverables are defined and incorporated into project plan. Assist in developing the testing approach and detailed testing schedule and track & report testing progress against schedule. Ensure entry and exit criteria for testing phases are met, and manage the business sign off process.
  • Partner with diverse, geographically dispersed cross-functional stakeholders (Business and IT) to drive accountability for all aspects of complex initiatives,
  • Manage high profile projects addressing highly complex business issues that have significant impact to the Finance function and across Visa. Projects are designed to standardize business processes and systems, improve speed, quality, and internal controls of Finance systems and solutions.
  • Create and maintain all required project artifacts and documents.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the project can deliver the benefits outlined in the business case and meets the reasonable expectations of end users. Work with team to establish quantitative and/or qualitative measurement of benefits and means for tracking to ensure project objectives are met.

  • Responsible for pushing adoption of delivered platforms and decommissioning of retired applications.


Communication

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experienced in communicating effectively with leaders and sponsors, including concise, issue-focused presentation materials and leading executive level discussions.
  • Able to quickly build rapport with all levels of management, across functions and with external partners. Comfortable in communicating, resolving conflict, and brokering consensus with cross-functional teams.
  • Responsible for working with Change Management team to assess necessary business readiness activities and integrate them into project plans.


This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred qualifications:
  • Effective leadership qualities, ability to influence without direct management authority.
  • Able to present confidently to business and IT leaders/sponsors.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to effectively manage multiple projects at one time and meet project deadlines. PMP Certification and/or Scrum Master Certification required.
  • 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while coordinating activities with cross-divisional teams.
  • Detail and deadline oriented with effective organizational and analytic skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, comfortable speaking and presenting to project leadership. Developed documentation skills.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and achieve in-depth understanding of complex processes and systems.
  • Experience managing conflict to achieve project goals.
  • Should be able to work with offshore vendors and globally dispersed resources.
  • Solid understanding of project management techniques, methodologies and best practices.
  • Prior Financial Services Industry experience is required, with a solid understanding of the functional and technical aspects of ERP, Enterprise Cost Accounting, Planning & Budgeting systems and Billing/Revenue (pricing, invoicing, reporting, master data, etc.)
  • Must be detail oriented and possess the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Comfortable leading discussions in a cross-functional group to identify issues and resolutions.
  • Experience in full cycle system implementation.
  • 8+years of work experience as program/project manager, delivering complex business transformation initiatives.
  • Experience and deep understanding of IT SDLC, and how to build out detailed project plans.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 142,300.00 to 185,000.00 USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
