Job Description

Job Purpose


Sr. Power Electronics Engineer, Technical Specialist will be responsible for technically leading development of power module including gate drive, capacitor, busbars, DBC layout, wire bonding/sintering process, and other work. The candidate must be technically strong, have in depth knowledge of power devices and circuit design modeling and analysis, be a team player with interdisciplinary experience/expertise, and willing to work in a fast-paced environment.


Job Duties And Responsibilities


  • Coordinate all activities, assign tasks, publish meeting notes, document all findings and decisions
  • Conduct root cause analysis and identify fix to resolve the issues
  • Lead development of next generation power module assembly including all sub-components.
  • Knowledge of module manufacturing processes
  • Research industry and university advancements in module design and processes
  • Providing subject matter expertise, mentoring, and help technical decisions
  • Identify technical gaps and help identify solution
  • Conduct benchmark study of the competitor inverter designs
  • Provide technical assistance in application of power modules and inverter design
  • Conduct subcomponent selection and analysis
  • Developing cost effective and reliable power electronics circuitry using cutting edge technologies, simulation tools, and test and evaluation equipment
  • Define module validation testing DVP for performance, durability, environmental, safety
  • Create component specifications to meet the customer requirements
  • Establish and apply best practices from design to product launch, including supporting validation and testing


Qualifications And Skills


  • Experience of power module design and assembly, including capacitor, current sensors, busbars, gate drive circuitry
  • Experience with power electronics hands on testing and measurements
  • Expertise in sub-system and electronics modeling and Simulation
  • Knowledge and experience with quality tools, 6 Sigma black belt is preferred
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels within and outside Dana in a professional manner.
  • Knowledge of motor control methodologies
  • Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or equivalent Engineering Degree, PhD preferred
  • Knowledge of gate drive circuitry design and applied best practices
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and technical problem-solving ability
  • Knowledge of Si and SIC power devices and best practices
  • Strong Knowledge of electric drive system
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in automotive power electronics and circuit design, development, assembly, and validation
  • Experience in PCB layout, understanding high voltage circuit design requirements and EMC considerations
  • Experience in development of DFMEA, DVP, and Validation testing plan
  • Experience with IPM and IM electric motors
  • Be passionate about development of power electronics
  • Experience in inverter power circuitry design and analysis
  • Must be a self-directed and motivated individual who is willing to accept responsibility.
  • Experience leading a project with cross functional team members
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
