Get to know the role
We are seeking a highly skilled attorney to join our Legal Department team. The ideal candidate will establish themselves as the go-to person for providing legal support to our OP business unit while demonstrating a collaborative, efficient, and meticulous approach. Additionally, the candidate should be able to build and maintain a reputation for delivering timely, reliable, accurate, and thorough service to our business clients. Developing strong relationships with Legal Department teams in Bellevue and London is also critical to this role.
Job Title: Sr. Corporate Counsel
Job Summary: Provides frontline legal support, teamed with a Sr. Paralegal, to Organized Play, TPCi’s e-sports program (physical card tournaments + online videogame tournaments).

What You’ll Do
  • Solve complex legal problems using sound, thorough and thoughtful legal analysis and judgment as well as consultation and brainstorming with manager Director and fellow Legal Department team members.
  • Research and advise on existing and anticipated changes to laws and regulations relevant to OP business unit, including via consultation with outside counsel on issues requiring specialized legal expertise/input.
  • Be responsible for the delivering of all legal work for the OP business unit, including:
  • Fully participate in Legal Department Managers’ fora and Legal Department meetings.
  • Develop, nurture and strengthen relationships with OP business unit via weekly/bi-weekly meetings both with OP business unit and with direct report(s).
  • Play an active manager role to support direct report(s) per TPCi guidance and Core Values employing servant leadership principles; constantly considers appropriate team member level to handle legal work with an eye towards team member development; schedules and assigns work, reviews performance, participates in team calibrations and recommends employment actions related to direct report(s).
  • Assess and prioritize team work on a regular cadence, participate in team work prioritization and assist manager Director in managing budgets for outside counsel and headcount for reporting teams.
  • Develop, nurture and provide direction and guidance to direct report(s) and create supportive team environment and dynamics across and within legal teams.
  • Employ legal judgment and subject matter experience to manage legal risk for the Businesses in collaboration with direct manager, to enable the Organized Play business unit to advance with alacrity while in full legal compliance; communicating constantly in a pragmatic and collaborative fashion both up (to manager Director) and across (to business unit clients and fellow Legal Department team members) the chain.
  • Serve as responsible point of contact for the drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements including vendor, IP/IT licensing, entertainment and media licenses, tournament licenses, venue agreements, team participation and licensing agreements, and sponsorship agreements (may directly handle these activities personally or coordinate their execution with direct report(s) or other legal teams).
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or a demonstrated equivalent level of applicable experience.
  • Strong esports background/experience, including regulatory, marketing and relevant transactional experience
  • Passion for guiding development of team members and uncovering opportunities to help team members grow
  • Prior management experience with proven success guiding team communications, relationships and dynamics
  • Exceptional levels of collegiality
  • Exceptional drafting, negotiation, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills
  • Ten+ (10+) years of relevant professional experience, plus two (2) years of management experience or a demonstrated equivalent level of expertise.
  • J.D. or equivalent degree and bar license in good standing with the ability to practice law in Washington State
  • Excellent legal judgment and analytical skills
  • Strong inclination and demonstrated experience innovating processes to streamline operations and increase efficiency, transparency, and comprehension between client teams and legal.

  • Base salary range: For this role, new hires generally start between $170,000.00 – $201,400.00. Full Range: $170,000.00 - $254,000.00.
