Job Description
Overview And Essential Functions


We are currently seeking a Sr. Operations Manager to work out of our Mesa, AZ and surrounding areas. The Sr. Operations Manager is responsible for high-level operational support of Utility Construction Projects throughout a defined geographic area (AZ), evaluating processes related to work directed by the Area Construction Managers and will independently manage process/quality improvement and operational projects as directed. Sr. Operations Manager will collaborate with other Departments to produce reports for analyses, engage with contractors, oversee daily management operational responsibilities, and will own several key operational functions as directed.


Responsibilities:


  • Perform other related duties as assigned by upper management
  • Oversee large, often cross-department or organization-wide projects or initiatives, bringing together multiple stakeholders to drive decisions
  • Develop tools and methods to track and report relevant key performance indicators
  • Develop plans, schedules, and budgets for projects to improve existing processes and follow through on required implementation and training
  • Develop and maintain understanding of subject matter experts and areas of expertise within the City and Department on specific topics
  • As directed, research, benchmark, and analyze data in order to produce reports and make recommendations to decision-makers
  • Provide project-based support to programs as needed
  • Identify key organizational change management and training needs that recommended process redesign will have on a program or division
  • Participate in design, planning, and project management of key systems improvements in areas of responsibility under the Area Construction Managers, often in partnership with other divisions or program like Information Technology, Performance Management, Human Resources, Safety and others
  • Evaluate effectiveness and impact of work and identify metrics to evaluate performance
  • Oversee employee, contractors, or vendors, as applicable
  • Support development, planning and implementation of special projects as assigned


Qualifications


  • BS or equiv. in Construction Management preferred
  • 5+ years managing underground & aerial utility construction (with focus in telecommunications)
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Google Gmail and Google Docs
  • Strong Communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Well-versed in project management and keeping groups communicating and working toward a set of goals
  • Demonstrated ability to foster and maintain professional and collaborative relationships with diverse groups and establish collaborative team environments
  • Excellent analytical skills, ability to interpret, digest and analyze data
