POSITION OVERVIEW:
The SQL Developer is responsible for enhancing our business partners’ experience with our policy and claims administration system. You will be part of a newly formed team to enrich our existing system while collaborating with solution partners to deliver essential capabilities that will enable us to further grow our business. You will engage directly with the business, functional areas, IT counterparts, and our software solution providers to analyze, design, code, and test critical capabilities within and integrated with MGA System’s IMS solution. This role is essential to enriching Ascot’s technology solutions in a way that transforms how we do business. The ideal candidate will have experience working for an insurance company and/or an insurance software development company building, enriching, and maintaining policy and/or claim administration systems. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver quality code, including accurately documenting work, producing necessary artifacts, and testing your work
- Adhere to / implement software development principles and design patterns, including integrating various systems leveraging API’s
- Work both independently, as well as collaboratively across internal and vendor teams
- Leverage technical capabilities (e.g., SQL/C#/.Net/ API Integration) to develop new features, fix issues and integrate solutions
- Accurately estimate work to deliver fixes, enhancements, new solutions, and integration across solutions.
- Partner with MGA Systems on technical requirements, development efforts, testing, and release management
- Analyze/debug issues and address them as appropriate
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Desire to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment
- Demonstrated ability to work on a team, interact with others, meet deadlines, and successfully perform in a fast-paced, changing work environment
- 3+ years C#/development with API based Integration experience is preferred
- Insurance business acumen required
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Insurance-specific software development experience required
- Passion for programming using SQL and C#.net using various .NET frameworks
- Ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical counterparts
- Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
- 5+ years SQL experience – must be intermediate to expert level; SQL skills are essential

Compensation
Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, and skills. The base pay is just one component of Ascot’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual cash bonus, long-term incentives, and other forms of discretionary compensation awarded by the Company. The annualized base pay range for this role is: 115,000-130,000
