Neurolens is seeking a Data Developer (a role comprised of elements across typically defined DBA duties and/or aspiring Data Engineer duties) with a strong SQL, Database design, and data analytics background. This role is critical to scale and mature the Neurolens IT organization as the company embarks on an ambitious roadmap to expand our footprint in the optical market, and ultimately transform lives.
As a Neurolens Data Developer, you will support the organization through 3 primary, high-level functions:
1. Implement database enhancements, ultimately supporting the fulfillment of needs (business requirements) expressed by your business stakeholders
2. Provide both scheduled and ad-hoc data extracts, used for either/both operational and analytical purposes
3. Play a critical role in maintaining the ongoing accuracy and integrity of data within our databases and warehouses
The scope of this role includes the maintenance & management of core data assets utilized both via internally facing tools/extracts as well as customer/patient facing products. Our Neurolens data is the underpinning by which we will deliver the best customer and patient experience in the industry, and therefore will rely on this role heavily to ensure the ongoing growth and scale of our business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support business services sprints with the following:
- Maintain (update/optimize) existing and standup new databases and warehouses to meet stakeholder needs and maintain adequate performance levels
- Produce SQL queries & data extracts to support various ad hoc stakeholder requests
o Current state database-related perspective and analysis
o Solution design perspective and proposals
o Scoping and estimates to support sprint planning
o Database changes as prescribed by Business Services leadership
o Create requisite technical documentation
- Develop/enhance data intake to ensure accurate month end click fee extracts & financial counts/$
- Support internationalization efforts to ensure adherence to local data residency and privacy laws
- Own all database related activities to support lab expansion (e.g. setup new labs, optimize DB for data growth, etc.)
- On regular (daily) basis, review and react to data integrity violations (especially for lab data) and ensure lab reported data is complete; work with Lab Ops leadership to follow up on missing data
- Troubleshoots and resolves issues in a timely fashion, communicating updates as determined until issue is resolved
- Support call log cases as necessary to research and resolve bugs and other customer issues
- Support and eventually own key portions of month end close reporting and processing

- 5+ years’ experience using a relational database (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, etc.)
- Experience working in a multi-technology/start up environment is a plus
- 5+ years’ experience working in an IT environment
- Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain working relationships with business/stakeholders, engineering and R&D teams to ultimately translate needs into successful data-driven results
- Excellent organizational skills
- Bachelor’s degree computer science or a similar technical area or equivalent
- Enthusiasm for learning new skills and technologies, and passion for conveying knowledge
- Excellent communication skills: presentation, written, and oral
- 5+ years’ experience as a data developer and/or database administrator
- Demonstrated experience compiling development estimates for sprint planning purposes with a high degree of accountability
- 3+ years’ experience using Microsoft Visual Studio/Azure Dev Ops
