SQL Business/Data Analyst

Contract to Hire (6 months convert to FTE)

Location- Hybrid Franklin, TN

Hybrid schedule 2 days on-site from start date

We need a Data Analyst with a willingness to perform some Business Analysis to help our Data Services teams better coordinate with the business. The work spans the Enterprise and would focus on multiple systems including AIM (Agency Information Management), AIS (Agency Insights), and CIM (Customer Information Management). This person would need to be very data saavy and able to explore the raw data and the data model. This job entails interfacing with business stakeholders to understand data and analytics needs and helping IT deliver solutions. There will be a lot of documenting and coordination work. We would like to leverage the knowledge of logical entities and database objects that this analyst acquires over the course of this work to assist in the implementation of our data catalogs, data dictionaries and business glossaries for our Data Governance Initiative.

Data Analyst

The Data Analyst is the face of analytics and BI to the enterprise and will be a bridge between the business and IT Data Services. The Data Analyst is responsible for helping convert data into actionable business insights. He or she will work with business stakeholders to leverage analytics in solving business problems or improving processes, while coordinating with development staff to convert useful solution prototypes into production assets. This role requires a person who is an excellent communicator, in written, visual, and verbal forms. An acceptable candidate will be self-motivated, inquisitive, and a proven problem solver. Duties and responsibilities include the following:

Duties and Responsibilities

• Data discovery, blending, and curation from internal, public, and partner sources

• Ad-hoc querying of data for insights

• Using Jira to create Userstories and Tasks and to document requirements

• Report design and development potentially using a variety of tools (Business Objects, WebFocus, Cognos, Power BI, SSRS, etc.)

• Thought leadership and consultation with business stakeholders on ways to use data and analytics to improve operational efficiencies and drive positive outcomes

• Design and develop reporting and analytics solutions

• Perform ad-hoc query and analysis on structured and unstructured data from a variety of sources

• Create data visualizations to clearly demonstrate trends and opportunities in operational performance, sales and marketing activities, and industry trends

• Collect and analyze data to provide information to stakeholders to inform strategic and tactical decisions.

• Investigate and document current data flows and business processes involving corporate systems, business partners, and downstream data consumers.

• Document data process flows using Visio or other visual tools.

• Understand business challenges and help the business to use data and analytics to solve them.

• Identify new sources of internal and external data to improve analytical capabilities

• Perform mapping of data sources to target data models and outputs.

• Define technical data requirements and data mapping for reporting and analytics solutions

Qualifications and Requirements

• 3+ years’ work experience as a Data Analyst or data-specific Business Analyst

• Experience interfacing with business stakeholders to understand data and analytics needs and deliver solutions

• Strong SQL development skills, creating complex queries, views, and stored procedures

• Experience providing reporting and analytics solutions using tools such as Business Objects, WebFocus, Cognos, PowerBI

• Strong understanding of relational data structures, theories, principles, and practices.

• Experience in Agile Scrum and / or Kanban project management frameworks

• Experience in creating data specifications, data catalogs, and process flow diagrams

• Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws

• Experienced in advanced analytics such as statistical analysis, machine learning, predictive modeling
