Job Description

The Sports Performance & Fitness Center Coordinator is responsible for designing, organizing, implementing and supervising strength, speed, agility, and conditioning programs that align with NCAA Division III compliance standards for all SUNY Poly's varsity athletics teams. Teaching proper safety techniques. Implementing and enforcing facilities rules, policies, and procedures. Assisting student -athletes with injury prevention training in consultation with athletic training staff. Direct Wildcat Fitness Center operations and ensuring that the facility is appropriately staffed; mange hiring processes; oversee campus and community facility memberships; monitor timesheets; serve as point person for equipment maintenance, cleaning, and purchases. Analyze and evaluate new equipment and provide advice on purchasing; maintain and schedule repairs to equipment; review and research new technology and equipment. Assist with Wildcat Fieldhouse and Athletic Facilities operations to include event management; work collaborate with diverse student athletes. Partner with campus Wellness center for programs and initiatives; recruitment; guide recreational programming. Other reasonable duties as assigned.

Review & research new technology & equipment for the benefit of facility users.
  • Guide recreational programming where interest exists.
  • Design, organize, implement, and supervise strength, speed, agility, and conditioning programs that align with NCAA Division III compliance standards for all SUNY Poly's varsity athletics teams. Teach proper techniques and safety for all lifts and movement drills.
  • Partner with Wellness Center staff for programs and initiatives.


The primary location for this position is in Utica, with possible travel to other operating locations.


Salary: $50,148

  • The position will supervise student employees.


Minimum Requirements


  • Minimum of 1-year collegiate strength and conditioning experience at the collegiate level or higher post-baccalaureate degree; will accept 2 years of graduate assistant experience.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that could include mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays in order to complete assigned tasks.
  • Excellent teaching, verbal, written, and computer communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Bachelor's Degree is required from college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
  • Must be committed to obtaining appropriate CEUs and professional development.
  • Ability to demonstrate and teach appropriate lifting and movement techniques.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications, or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Current membership in and certification by an accredited professional organization (National Strength and Conditioning Association or Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations.
