The Department of Pediatrics has an exciting opportunity for a Speech Pathologist 1. The Speech Pathologist 1 initiates speech and language services for patients enrolled in assigned facilities. The Speech Pathologist 1 also administers speech and language evaluations and therapy services for patients enrolled in applicable school programs. Moreover, the incumbent participates in a multidisciplinary team and takes on administrative duties.
- Assist with grant writing and administration as required.
- Maintain Florida licensure for Speech Language Pathology.
- Coordinates therapy in a natural environment whenever possible.
- Evaluates, plans, and implements the use of assistive technology in classrooms. Initiates the speech language pathology evaluations, quarterly progress notes, Medicaid notes, plans of care, family support plan goals, and final discharge summaries.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
- Contributes to implementing classroom-based therapy models and techniques to coincide with program philosophy.
- Participates in the instruction with parents and classroom staff on appropriate communication strategies to facilitate skill generalization.
- Consults with classroom teachers to implement speech therapy goals in the classroom.
- Assists in the developments, plans, and implements a program for generalization of speech and language goals for both home-based and center-based students.
- Participates in a multidisciplinary team to propose treatment strategies and achieve functional outcomes.
- Attend required educational programs and in-service trainings.
- Supervise students and interns.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
- Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
- Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
- Commitment to the University’s core values.
- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
- Professional or a provisional license of Speech & Language Pathology with the State of Florida.
- Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association or be engaged in their Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).
- Master’s Degree in in speech therapy from an accredited speech therapy program.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
