Statement Of Purpose:

Evaluates and treats communicative disorders of referred patients in the hospital and its outreach services. Provides written and verbal information to physicians, patients and families about the patient's communicative problem.

Requirements:
  • Physical stamina requisite to lift, carry and/or otherwise move or transport the equipment used in evaluation and treatment.
  • Physical stamina requisite to standing, walking, sitting as required in the course of work activities.
  • Visual, auditory and speech acuity requisite to verbal and written communication with patients, families, physicians and other persons involved in the patient's care.
  • Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology and a Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech/Language Pathology, awarded by the American Speech/Language and Hearing Association.

Working Conditions:

  • Work involves almost constant one-to-one contact with patients.
  • Work is generally light, but may require light (exerting/lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, or a negligible amount constantly) lifting and otherwise assisting patients.
  • Work is usually performed inside in a well lit, heated and air conditioned space.
