JOB SUMMARY:
This position focuses mostly on the Outpatient side of the continuum of care, providing care for our community members. We work closely with ENT, Neurology, and Radiation Oncology as these are our Primary referral sources. The viable candidate will be well-versed in Voice Disorders, Aphasia, Cognitive-Linguistic Deficits, and Dysphagia. They should also have knowledge/certification in SpeakOUT! or LSVT. This SLP will have opportunity to join the Voice Clinic, which meets 2x/week in ENT, and become a part of the Nationally recognized and Certified ALS Treatment Center of Excellence and Movement Disorders clinics. This is a dynamic, ever-interesting position for the clinician who cares about patients, positive outcomes, and solid, evidence-based practice patterns.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Speech-Language Pathologists provide diagnostics and intervention to patients in varying states of health and illness. The speech-language pathologist (SLP) functions as an essential member of clinical and multidisciplinary treatment teams providing direct care to patients. The SLP works within a cooperative team model of care and supports other speech-language pathologists by sharing caseloads across sites. They provide evaluation and differential diagnosis of the communication, cognitive and/or swallowing disorder, treatment and symptom monitoring, and education and counseling to the patient, family, or care provider. Knowledge of Dysphagia, Neural bases of Language and Cognition, and current intervention techniques for Voice and VCD make for a standout clinician. SLPs teach and prepare patients/families and caregivers for continued care after discharge. They demonstrate dedication to professional growth and development and to the continuous improvement of patient care. SLPs may be involved in consultative services within the organization and in the community.
EDUCATION:
Master's Degree from an Accredited Speech-Language Pathology program. Clinical certification (CCC's) or eligible to receive CCC's from ASHA. Licensed to practice speech-language pathology in the State of Vermont.
EXPERIENCE:
This position necessitates a SLP with 3-5+ years of experience in an OP or combined OP/IP setting.
