Acute Care Rehab

Fast-paced, high-volume Acute Care Rehab Department is looking for top skilled Speech Language Pathologists. Is that you?

Work location: Texas Health Dallas, 8200 Walnut Hill Lane, Dallas TX 75231

Work hours: PRN/As needed

  • Supportive environment with mentoring from experienced team with multiple certifications including: Board Certified Specialist in Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders, Neuro Clinical Specialists, Cardiac Clinical Specialists, Geriatric Clinical Specialists, Neonatal Certified specialists, Lymphedema Certified Therapist and Vestibular Certified therapists.

Here’s What You Need

  • Post-Baccalaureate degree recognized by the American Speech Language Hearing Association required.
  • Master’s Degree: Speech Language Pathology required or
  • SLP – Speech Language Pathology; Texas Speech Language Pathology License upon hire preferred and
  • SLP – Speech Language Pathology – Texas Speech Language Pathology License required or
  • SLP-I – Speech Language Pathology Intern; Texas Speech Language Pathology License upon hire required
  • 1 year of recent experience in an Inpatient Setting with Acute Adult care highly preferred.
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required

What You Will Do

Essential Functions:

  • Performs/delegates technical procedures appropriately and safely.
  • Maintains patient safety throughout treatment.
  • Utilizes a variety of treatment techniques to achieve goals, if necessary.
  • Performs treatment procedures that are within the scope of the professional license.
  • Determines patient response to treatment and evaluates progress (reassessment).
  • Motivates non-compliant or unmotivated patients to participate in therapy.
  • Educates patient and family through instruction, demonstration, and/or appropriate handouts in treatment plan, safety issues, home programs/self management and assistive equipment.
  • Communicates with physicians and other healthcare personnel as appropriate regarding patient care issues.
  • Uses therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient age and desire for treatment.
  • Performs age-appropriate patient treatment:
  • Demonstrates competence in the performance of age appropriate patient treatment and individualizes care based on age specific needs.
