Job Description
Position Summary
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society mobilizes people and resources to drive research for a cure and to address the challenges of everyone affected by MS. To fulfill this mission, the Society funds cutting-edge research, drives change through advocacy, facilitates professional education, collaborates with MS organizations around the world, and provides programs and services designed to help people with MS and their families move their lives forward.
Specialist, Multimedia
The Specialist supports the Society’s day-to-day social media presence and deepens engagement, connection and growth in line with the Society’s social media strategy and strategic priorities. This position will interact across teams and organizational strategies.
This position is FLEXIBLE and can be held remotely anywhere in the US.
Social Media Management – 60%
  • Helps create innovative and engaging multimedia content for all social media platforms using approved assets.
  • Utilizes storytelling skills to elevate and expand Society’s brand awareness throughout the United States and help raise awareness for key events.
  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of efficient and effective content calendars and assets for social media in conjunction with the Society’s larger overall integrated content planning and marketing efforts.
  • Contributes to the evolution of the Society’s social media strategy and presence by ideating, shooting and producing video content for Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and other social media platforms.
  • In conjunction with other staff, handles development and execution of social media strategies across the Society with a focus on growth, high engagement, and contribution to Society outcomes.
  • Adheres to Society practices and policies in social media and contributes to regular reviews and enhancements to the Society’s practices and policies.
Monitoring and Reporting – 20%
  • Stays up to date on social media and multimedia trends and changes to inform of practices.
  • Reviews and monitors video content created by other nonprofits or similar pages on social media.
  • Monitors competitive landscape pertaining to video content and social media.
  • Contributes to social media reporting, particularly with YouTube, Reels and other video platforms
Integration and Education – 20%
  • Ensures close collaboration and develops relationships with organizational liaisons and volunteers across the country to gather multimedia content.
  • Assists in educating and training the team and organization around Society’s social media strategies and best practices in alignment with strategy and guidelines
  • Collaboratively explores opportunities to leverage multimedia content in new ways and in new platforms.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Collaborates closely with team members across the organization to ensure integration of marketing and communication efforts, on-brand messaging and assets, and successful outcomes in support of the organization’s strategic goals.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Some college + 5+ years of related experience accepted in lieu of degree
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Preferred field of degree: Video Production, Journalism, Broadcasting, Communications or other relevant field
Minimum Experience/Skills/Competencies Required
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage projects, prioritize work, and complete tasks within timelines
  • Strong interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and promote collaboration with others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, both internally and appropriate for professional social media presence; strong customer service skills
  • Experience shooting video, planning video shoots, and managing audio and voiceover sessions
  • Ability to think critically about content in context of overall marketing campaigns, brand messaging, business goals and voice
  • 3+ years’ experience in video editing/production of compelling, polished videos
  • Commitment to the mission, vision, cultural values, and expectations of the National MS Society
  • Knowledge of social media strategies and tactics
  • Knowledge of what type of multimedia content works best on what platform, optimizing content accordingly, as well as understanding the different nuances of each platform
Technical/Other
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Instagram, Tik Tok, YouTube, and others
  • Proven ability to craft video content for social media platforms
  • Experience with Adobe After Effects a plus
  • Excellent video editing skills in Adobe Premiere Pro

Estimated hiring compensation range for this role is $42,000 - $55,000 annually, based on an average compensation schedule. Final offers will be based on candidate geographic location and consider career experience and may vary from this range due to these and other factors
