Special Projects Engineer Jobs

Position Summary:
This position will work closely with Alpine’s Software Development team as well as the Structural Engineering team to support wood and cold formed steel truss designs as well as other residential building materials. The Alpine Team continually strives to ensure we exceed customer requirements for inward facing as well as outward facing software programs. This position will help provide accurate and useful information to Programming, Engineering and Management about the quality of the engineering software by specifying, testing, and verifying engineering design and analysis for the software to ensure compliance with standards and codes. This position will interact and work across the engineering department to develop and refine engineering requirements for wood and cold formed steel engineering design and analysis.
Primary Responsibilities

• Learn and maintain a high level of proficiency and understanding of all input and user interfaces for all areas of Alpine’s engineering software.
• Maintain and expand engineering material software support files to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards and codes.
• Investigate and compare current software user input methods related to engineering analysis and design.
• Follow specification and implementation processes to create comprehensive documentation of proposed software enhancements.
• Evaluates and tests engineering components of new or modified software programs, including documentation, diagrams, and flow charts to determine if program performs according to program specifications and conforms to established guidelines.
• Evaluates proposed software specifications for development. Participates in the specification development and approval process with engineers, programmers, support associates, and general testers.
• Coordinate the engineering specification needs with all countries and divisions considered by software including Canada and the US.
• Assist in the creation of software development specifications as required to ensure software meets and exceeds user expectations.
• Work with Executive Team, Engineers, Sales Department Associates, and Small Business Units, as needed, to ensure that all software meets the strategic goals of Alpine.
