Solidworks Cad Specialist/Mechanical Engineer

As a Solidworks CAD Specialist at Xico Lighting (www.xicoled.com) you will be part of a talented and friendly creative team working on high-performance LED lighting products aiming to change the lighting industry. This position will be responsible for producing sub and top-level assemblies, BOMs and drafting original tech drawings for project submittals and internal production. In this role, you will be tasked with the generation of shop drawings required for customer sign-off, as well as technical drawings of the finalized mechanical design of our products and preparing those products for manufacturing and production. A broad technical skill set with strong expertise in mechanical engineering for electro-mechanical assemblies is an excellent indicator of success. This role includes working closely with members of our operations, production, and purchasing teams to foster a collaborative environment.

Primary Responsibilities

• Support manufacturing and assembly testing through the build process.
• Creation of BIM and REVIT files based on Solidworks assembly builds.
• Layout and draw schematic, orthographic, and angle views to depict fixtures and assemblies for customer sign-off.
• Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for LED lighting specification.
• Regular and thorough communication, detailing task process.
• Creation of shop drawings, fabrication specifications, and assembly guides using best practices and accepted standards.
• Maintain and grow a collaborative work environment within a cross-functional team.
• Create sub-assemblies and top level BOMs in Solidworks for release to production.

Skills/Specifications

• Considerable skill in the design and preparation of CAD models, drawings, and technical specifications.
• Proficient level computer skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Numeracy and technical competencies (prepare technical data, understand specifications, and read drawings/blueprints).
• Strong working knowledge of Solidworks (Solidworks certifications a plus).
• Expertise in time management and the ability to meet strict deadlines.
• Knowledge of architectural project processes and the use of BIM files is a plus.
• Ability to prepare complex CAD models and drawings from rough sketches, data, and oral instructions.

Education And Experience

• Experience in LED lighting or a similar industry is a bonus.
• Preferably 2+ years of technical drawing experience.
• Experience in building, architecture, HVAC/plumbing, or a similar field is a bonus.
• Bachelor-level industrial design or mechanical engineering degree (preferred).
• Associate degrees or professional certifications are acceptable.
