How will you make an impact?

Business & Division Information:

We are searching for a dedicated Software Engineer III who will help our international team of engineers deliver our next generation Flow Cytometry Instrumentation. You will ensure the accurate execution and communication of existing and new features from the application’s UI through the full stack to the embedded hardware components on a next gen scientific research instrument. Get your hands on the hardware as well as tackle exciting application level problems. Knowledge diversity and problem-solving experience are encouraged as our technical landscape is complex and immense. This is a challenging job but satisfying to the intellectually curious.

Remote work arrangements can be considered and negotiated on a per instance basis from anywhere within the United States; but you must be available to work onsite for one to two weeks at a time. Sometimes you still need to see the pumps turn on and off to know your code works. This is vital to instrument development.

What will you do?

  • Optimize multi-threaded and timing sensitive tight loops within native C++ applications
  • Mentor junior software engineers
  • Provide timely, up-to-date, and complete documentation
  • Contribute to and maintain operation of complex fluidic and data acquisition simulators
  • Develop database queries and transactions in an SQL backend
  • Architect & implement subsystems using C++, CLR, C#, Python, etc.
  • Propose, architect, and implement application subsystems
  • Comfortably navigate and program within a polyglot environment including C++, C#, Python, SQL, JSON, etc.
  • Develop and optimize embedded C++ code used to drive hardware components
  • Work within an established MVC design pattern to develop a complex UX within an existing C++ MFC framework and advocate for unit testing

How will you get here?

Education

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering and development
  • BS/BA Degree, Computer Science, Engineering, or Technical Field

Experience

  • Recent and relevant C++ development experience
  • Previously shipped at least one native application product
  • Demonstrate a detailed understanding of computational theory, multi-threading, code optimization

Skills

  • Self-motivated and can work efficiently and with few distractions
  • Excellent communicator as many of our interdisciplinary colleagues work on international teams over many time zones under many domain specialties
  • Organized, detail oriented and proactive
  • Excellent communication skills (written/verbal)
  • Demonstrably strong problem-solving abilities
