Job Summary


We are currently seeking a Software Engineer – Entry Level. The position is located in Arlington, VA.


Battelle’s Critical Infrastructure Business Line group is seeking a Software Engineer for a team supporting the research, development, test and evaluation of security systems and technology for both the Department of Homeland Security and the Transportation Security Administration. This is a full-time position.


Responsibilities


  • Candidate must have a strong background in hardware development and full stack software coding experience.
  • Specific activities may include designing applications to centralize and store test data, developing scripts and programs to support automation of test activities, and engaging the client.
  • Primary responsibilities include supporting the Team Lead during the hardware and software development cycles to enhance test and evaluation capabilities.
  • Activities include but are not limited to project scoping and requirement development for new hardware/software capabilities, designing systems for automation testing implementation, applying Agile methodologies for task management, fabrication and compliance testing for developed products, coding in object-oriented programming languages (C# preferred), and interfacing with team members and client on creating new innovative ideas to solve technical limitations of test facility.


Key Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering/Development, Computer Science, or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in software development.
  • Experience writing scripts & applications in C#, .NET, and Python.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server and relational database concepts.
  • Experience adding features to existing codebases.
  • Sole US Citizenship.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with object-oriented programming .
  • Eligibility and willingness to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance and TSA Suitability.
  • Must have experience that demonstrates solving complex technical problems associated with engineering, test and evaluation or scientific activities.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Experience with interface development using JavaScript and C#.
  • Experience using software revision control systems such as Git.
  • Experience collecting and archiving test data using MS Excel, Access, or similar databases.
  • Experience with CAD programs & 3D printing.
  • Experience with web frameworks like ASP.NET Framework & Core.
  • Active TSA Suitability
