Job Description

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory has multiple openings for a Software Developer in
Berkeley, CA.

Duties: Develop specialized semantic metadata software for solving broad data interoperability needs.
Maintain a suite of applications and software libraries, vetting contributions from other developers,
ensuring common code standards are adhered to, and robust test coverage. Provide extract-transform-load
pipelines for the national microbiome data collaborative. Develop performant APIs for the Gene Ontology
project. Deliver regular presentations and reports on projects. Coordinate with metadata lead on overall
project requirements. Build software for integrating complex metadata from multiple cancer research data
commons projects. Provide quality documentation for all code and deploy as searchable web pages.
Coordinate with UI and portal team on API requirements. Deliver metadata enhancement software that
leverages ML techniques for autocompleting missing information. Maintain releases of all software on
PyPI and GitHub. Contribute to ontology access software libraries

Benefits: This full salary range of this position is between $9,600 to $14,610 per month depending
upon candidates full skills, knowledge, and abilities, including education, certifications, and years
of experience.

Requirements: Employer will accept a Master’s degree in Translational Biomedical Informatics,
Bioinformatics, or related field and one (1) year of experience in the job offered or in a software
development related occupation.
