CORE JOB SUMMARY

The University of Miami is currently seeking a Social Worker, MSW to work at Sylvester Cancer Center in Miami. The incumbent provides social services to patients and their families, including counseling and support. Moreover, this position establishes a plan of care that fosters personal worth, spiritual well-being, and human dignity in each patient.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

• Provides clinical supervision and guidance to junior social workers.
• Collaborates and facilitates patient discharge plans for those requiring post inpatient care.
• Serves as patient advocate and liaison to physicians, insurance companies, and community agencies.
• Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
• Performs patient assessment, including looking at illness, mental status, and family dynamics.
• Helps the patient and their family to understand, accept, and follow medical recommendations.
• Documents relevant data accurately and in compliance with laws and regulations.
• Links patients and their families to appropriate community resources.
• Reassesses plan of care according to the physical and emotional needs of patient.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Master’s degree in relevant field

Experience:

Minimum 1 year of experience
