Social Services Assistant -Sapt (Perris)

This position is located in Perris, CA

The Riverside County – Riverside University Health system – Behavioral Health department has an opening for a Social Services Assistant with our MOMS program for Perris. The MOMS Perinatal Program is a 16 week intensive day treatment program for pregnant and parenting substance abusing women. Transportation is provided as part of treatment for women and their children. A child learning laboratory is provided as part of treatment where women learn hands-on parenting skills. Groups cover a variety of topics specific to pregnant and parenting mothers. Special speakers are also used to provide information and referrals to other community programs for women. The position will work in partnership with Behavioral Health clinics to providing case management as needed by answering daily calls and assisting individuals in need. This includes answering phones, taking messages, updating community resources, provide follow up care to callers, and other administrative tasks. The position will work a 9/80 Schedule from 7:30am to 5:00pm. This position will also require some driving therefore a California Driver’s License is required.

Under general supervision, provides routine social services to a preselected caseload of social service applicants and/or recipients and/or outreach services to community members; acts as liaison between the client, the Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) or Department of Behavioral Health and/or community resources; and performs other related duties as required.

The Social Service Assistant is an entry level paraprofessional classification and typically reports to an appropriate supervisory level position. Incumbents are responsible for providing routine social services and resource referral. Some positions may require supportive counseling, placement services, training, and basic assessment. Under the supervision of professional staff, Social Services Assistants may be assigned preselected caseloads, a variety of routine investigative duties for professional staff and/or outreach work, which do not require the expertise of a professional level social worker.

The Social Services Assistant is distinguished from the Social Services Practitioner series in that the latter represents the professional level classes in the social work series and incumbents perform case management services, which require greater assessment skills and a broader knowledge of social work concepts. The Social Service Assistant will primarily work with pregnant and postpartum women with children, perinatal, and will have the advantage of attending treatment with additional ancillary services to reduce barriers to treatment.

Our objective is to provide quality care to our consumers and youth that are struggling with substance addiction in a welcoming and nonjudgmental environment. The MOMS program offer gender specific groups to women that are pregnant and or parenting.

This position is located in Perris.
CA Drivers License is required.
