Job Description

Snr/Exec Director, Gene Therapy Research


Location: Massachusetts

Leadership Position: Yes

Focus Area: AAV Gene Therapy


We're working with an exciting metabolic focused biotech company looking to revolutionize the way type-2 diabetes is treated.


Reporting into the CEO, you will drive the development of an exciting new lab space, lead a team of expert PhD/Non-PhD Scientist, and support the growth of the organization by partaking in business development/strategic activities.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development of relevant in-vitro assays to assess transduction and transgene expression, as well as preclinical models, to evaluate transduction efficiency, transgene expression, safety and efficacy
  • Work in-line and stay up to date with latest regulatory guidance
  • Represent the company in external fundraising/stakeholder meetings
  • Represent gene therapy research on development-stage program teams
  • Oversee the design, selection, and sourcing of viral vectors
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic planning for program development
  • Manage and lead gene therapy programs in all stages of early development (discovery to IND)
  • Build and lead a cross-disciplinary team, supporting the development of your colleagues

Requirements

  • PhD; higher education is a bonus
  • 5+ years hands-on experience in leadership roles in a pharmaceutical/biotech company
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth, cross-functional environment
  • Expert knowledge / research experience in gene therapy; preferable AAV gene therapy
