We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) to join our sleep medicine team. As an RPSGT, you will play a vital role in diagnosing and treating sleep disorders by conducting overnight sleep studies and monitoring patients' sleep patterns. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced RPSGT who is passionate about sleep medicine and improving patients' quality of life.

Responsibilities

• Equipment maintenance and quality assurance: Clean, maintain, and calibrate polysomnography equipment to ensure optimal performance. Perform routine quality assurance procedures to ensure accurate and reliable recordings. Stay updated on advancements in sleep medicine technology and techniques.
• Sleep study monitoring and troubleshooting: Monitor patients' sleep stages, arousal events, and other sleep-related parameters during overnight sleep studies. Recognize and troubleshoot any technical issues with the equipment or recordings to ensure accurate data collection. Make adjustments as necessary to optimize data quality.
• Polysomnographic data collection and analysis: Set up and calibrate polysomnography equipment, including electrodes, sensors, and monitoring devices. Apply the necessary sensors to record sleep-related physiological data, such as brain activity, eye movements, muscle activity, and respiratory patterns. Monitor patients' sleep patterns and physiological responses throughout the sleep study.
• Data interpretation and reporting: Analyze polysomnographic data and score sleep stages, respiratory events, and other relevant parameters using established scoring criteria. Prepare comprehensive reports summarizing the sleep study findings, including sleep architecture, respiratory indices, and abnormal events. Collaborate with sleep medicine physicians in interpreting results and developing treatment plans.
• Patient education and follow-up: Educate patients and their families about sleep disorders, treatment options, and lifestyle modifications. Provide guidance on sleep hygiene practices and strategies to improve sleep quality. Collaborate with the healthcare team to facilitate appropriate follow-up care and treatment interventions.
• Documentation and record-keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed electronic medical records, including patient demographics, study parameters, and analysis results. Ensure timely and thorough documentation of all sleep study activities, in compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
• Patient evaluation and preparation: Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients with suspected sleep disorders, including reviewing medical histories and conducting sleep assessments. Educate patients on the sleep study process, explain equipment usage, and answer any questions or concerns. Prepare patients for overnight sleep studies, ensuring their comfort and safety.

Requirements

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in analyzing and scoring polysomnographic data using standardized criteria
• Minimum 1 years of experience as an RPSGT, preferably in a sleep medicine center or hospital setting
• Valid certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT)
• Knowledge of sleep disorders, polysomnography techniques, and equipment operation
• Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Familiarity with electronic medical record systems
• Experience with multiple sleep monitoring techniques, such as split-night studies or multiple sleep latency tests
