Site Reliability Engineer

This position will be part of the SRE team within the IT organization. The candidate will be responsible for creating infrastructure designs and guiding the development and implementation of cloud applications, systems, and processes. This position will be working directly with key stakeholders to build and deploy highly available and scalable systems in private or public cloud environments. The candidate will need to be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced team environment.
How you will help::
  • Day-to-day operations of in-house developed, open-source, and commercial applications.
  • Monitor and address incidents, events, and problems in a timely manner.
  • Development and documentation of Chef recipes and/or ansible scripts. Support throughout the entire deployment lifecycle (development, quality assurance, and production).
  • Leverage scripting (BASH, Perl, Ruby, Python) to build required automation and tools on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Develop, test, and deploy code that will configure and manage our application on container service environments (Docker and Kubernetes) hosting on platforms on private and public infrastructure (AWS/OCI/Openstack/VMware)
  • Deploy and manage Kubernetes (EKS) based docker applications in AWS/OCI.
  • Define the container service architecture, including Docker Enterprise Edition and Kubernetes
  • Automate infrastructure and application deployment-related tasks using terraform.
  • Monitor and address incidents, events, and problems in a timely manner. Log aggregations tools such as Elastic and/or Splunk.
  • Strong Middleware Administration ( Wildfly,Tomcat,Weblogic,Apache)
  • Automate infrastructure and application deployment tasks. Work alongside with platform development team to containerize the applications.
  • Help developers leverage infrastructure, application, and cloud platform features and functionality participate in code and design reviews, and support developers by building CI/CD pipeline using Bamboo, Jenkins or Spinnaker
  • Ensure system availability, performance, capacity, and security.
  • Automate repetitive tasks required to maintain a secure and up-to-date operational environment.
  • Learn on the job and explore new technologies with little supervision.
  • Liaison between application development, infrastructure support, and tools (IT Services) teams.
Who we have in mind::
  • Experience and deep understanding of working within a DevOps environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Knowledge in Infrastructure monitoring tools (ELK stack, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar)
  • Extensive knowledge in containerized application and deployment in Kubernetes
  • Extensive knowledge of the Linux operating system, distributed file systems.
  • Experience with Configuration Management Automation tools (chef or puppet).
  • Scripting (Bash) and programming (Python/Ruby or similar)
  • Programming in scripting languages. Other object-oriented languages (C++, Java) are a plus.
  • CI-CD tooling experience (Atlassian or similar)
  • Experience with GiT
  • Strong Middleware Administration ( Wildfly,Tomcat,Weblogic,Apache)
  • Basic networking and operating system security fundamentals.
  • Containerization technologies (Docker/Kubernetes or similar)
  • Java application server administration (Tomcat or similar)
  • Knowledge of AWS/OCI best practices. Very keen to learn new technologies, Flexible to work on new platforms/environments and models like Agile/Scrum.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a desire to take on responsibility.
  • Solid experience in building a solution on AWS or Oracle Cloud or other public cloud services using Terraform.
