What You Get To Do
  • Responsible through direct reports for the development, implementation and day-to-day leadership of professional maintenance programs, processes, people, and documentation associated with efficient and high-performing automated storage and retrieval systems, and storage and picking systems installed at our Customers’ locations and surrounding area.
  • Provide leadership to a team of Maintenance Shift Engineering Managers in a 24/7 shift operation.
  • Build and maintain Customer relationships at our Customer sites, understanding and leading our preventive and predictive maintenance programs, leading and following all standard operating procedures, safety policies, etc. Identifying the appropriate time to escalate issues following the agreed upon escalation procedures, the triggers and appropriate response level, and providing frontline leadership for this process.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Advise in the management of maintenance interfaces with KNAPP’s nominated supplier(s) and sub-supplier(s)
  • May be required to respond to emergency calls
  • Ensures that the maintenance team maintains an excellent level of customer satisfaction while providing acceptable level of commercial return
  • Promote alignment of material handling equipment (MHE) maintenance objectives
  • Continually assess and resolve the supplier's resource requirements
  • Improve the service level and optimize resource utilization through adoption of industry best-practices
  • Help develop and manage maintenance budgets and cost projections
  • Liaise with the Customer’s Operations Shift Managers & the supplier's First Line Managers to ensure the safe and efficient management of the MHE scope of work
  • Approve revised MHE documents, drawings, and correspondence prior to issue
  • Manage the site escalation and grievance procedures related to the MHE
  • Manage all training requirements, both technical and regulatory
  • Management of the MHE and the Maintenance Cost Plan
  • Participate in work related performance improvement programs
  • Resolve any resourcing issues beyond the control of the Shift Engineering Managers
  • Management and allocation of all spares inventory
  • Manage, as the on-site representative, all system improvements and installations
  • Monitor progress of associated sub-suppliers
  • Be eager and determined to succeed, though safety conscious in all activities undertaken, and own problems and seeing them through to successful completion
  • Increase the scope and efficiency of KNAPP’s support solutions
  • Interact with on-site and off-site management, keeping them informed of local issues and successes, and addressing all concerns in a professional manner
  • Managing on-site maintenance teams that deal with electro-mechanical faults and preventative maintenance operations on automated material handling equipment in a warehouse environment
  • Help manage process improvements to ensure that the delivery of service increases customer satisfaction
  • Assistance with MHE Quality, and Health and Safety within the MHE maintenance scope
  • Assist in the identification and monitoring of the MHE Maintenance Team’s interfaces
  • Production and maintenance of the MHE PPM work schedules
  • Help provide monthly summary and detailed reports covering commercial and technical activities
  • Be an effective manager, focused on team development
  • Help manage site budgets and associated commercial activities
  • Help provide management of the supply chain, and in particular, ensure the alignment of sub-suppliers
  • Monitor and update the MHE risk register
  • Assess and report MHE progress and attendance at meetings
  • Ensure every team member fully understands the commercial implications of any decision they make
  • Manage the provision of quality support and maintenance services of all live information systems
  • Develop on-site staff and resources
  • Assist the MHE quality assurance position and health, safety, and environment adviser in verifying adherence to all relevant standards and procedures
  • Provide complete Customer satisfaction while enhancing the reputation of KNAPP
  • Continuation of the MHE Health and Safety File
  • Work against time frames to complete reactive repairs
  • Help plan and implement system security policy
  • Gain a reputation for rapid and effective support
  • Provide leadership of health and safety considerations with regard to given tasks and be able to carry out risk assessments
  • Through direct reports, match tasks with team skill-sets to ensure delivery of defined service level agreement
  • Through direct reports, manage and coordinate the daily activities of all personnel
  • Performs other duties, as required
  • Chair internal maintenance team review meetings
  • Ensure the timely supply of MHE maintenance hardware
Who You Are
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) and or (English/German) preferred, but not required
  • 5-10 years of verifiable, progressive experience as a Maintenance Repairman, Maintenance Electrician, Machine Repairman, or Industrial Maintenance Engineer that led to Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager
  • Verifiable experience providing leadership for repairs on various types of machinery systems, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Have a Degree in Business Management, Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent work experience
Working Conditions and Environment:
  • Occasional travel required
  • Physical requirements may include sitting, squatting, walking, reaching out to arm’s length, reaching over-head and lifting between 50-100 pounds.
  • Passport or ability to obtain passport
  • Professional office etiquette is required at all times
  • Work on weekends and/or overtime as required
  • Authorization to work in the U.S required
