Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our company as a Shipping Coordinator. This individual will process all Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), including entering required data, preparing advanced shipping notices and invoices, schedules and coordinates all inbound and outbound shipments.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:


  • Directs and documents all activities related to daily shipping including: Electronic Data Interchange, data entry, invoicing, coordinating inbound and outbound shipments, preparing all shipping documents and complying with customer requests.
  • Follows job work instructions and training matrix, where applicable.
  • Handles shipping requirements from India.
  • Meets with trucking company sales personnel, as needed.
  • Arranges shipments with trucking companies.
  • Assists the Customer Service Manager, as well as other members of the Sales Department in sales and customer service-related activities, as needed.
  • Files Sales Department documents, including quotes, invoices, shipping memos, bills of lading, faxes, alloy and scrip surcharge reports, tariff papers, customs paperwork and purchase orders.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE


High School Diploma or GED required. Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from an accredited college or university preferred. At least six months of current, relevant work-related experience required.


Language Ability


Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


Math Ability


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.


Reasoning Ability


Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


Computer Skills


Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Word required. Advanced working knowledge of Excel preferred.
