SHIPPING CLERK

Description

Reporting to the Transportation Supervisor, the Traffic Clerk is responsible for coordinating carriers for outbound and inbound operations. This person coordinates drivers, carriers, equipment with the operations, vendors and customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain dock safety through proper communication and escalation
• Communicate issues that occur to supervisor
• Responsible for carrying out company policy and initiatives
• Coordinate carrier assignment and transportation routings
• Verifying carriers and appointments with customer service and the carriers
• Work with peers in order to complete outbound and inbound operations effectively
• Ensure accurate transportation operations through detailed and accurate work
• Work on special projects as directed
• Ensure accurate and quality of transportation routings
• Perform routine tasks including some clerical, customer service and transportation related
• Assist shipping and inbound clerks as needed

Requirements

• Hazardous materials experience highly desired
• Warehouse experience preferred
• Forklift experience a plus
• Able to work overtime as needed
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Knowledge– Skills– Abilities

• Proficient with PC applications such as Email, Word, and Excel; printers; RF Scanner; WMS systems
• Exhibits professionalism
• Overall knowledge of warehouse equipment, and communication skills (both oral and written)
• Knowledge of inventory control systems and warehouse operations
• Strong attention to details, organization ability and ability to interact well with others
• Ability to work well under minimal supervision

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in a chemical manufacturing plant environment
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Occasionally may be required to reach, squat, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
