DESCRIPTION

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

CARE at the Sexual Assault Resource Center is an independent, confidential campus resource that provides education and support services for those impacted by sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking. CARE at SARC serves as the primary point of contact for victims and survivors who need advocacy, support services, and/or assistance with reporting options. All members of the University community who receive information or reports from victims/survivors will take proactive steps to refer individuals to CARE at SARC.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the general supervision of the CARE at Sexual Assault Resource Center Director, the Sexual Violence Prevention Specialist, in conjunction with the education/prevention team, is responsible for the planning and implementation of training and education for the department. Develops innovative measures to assess and evaluates department training and education efforts, and manages the design, delivery and evaluation of educational programming for faculty, staff, and students. Collaborates cross-functionally to develop and execute relevant and targeted programs for a wide range of campus constituents.

The Sexual Violence Prevention Specialist interfaces professionally with a broad range of collaborative contacts within the CARE at SARC office, across campus, and with external organizations. Conducts needs analysis and evaluates effectiveness of training programs. Evaluates programs for effectiveness using professional development techniques and revises programs as necessary to meet changing campus wide needs. Works in a collaborative manner with others in a diverse environment and at all levels in the organization to prioritize work assignments, conduct analysis and develop recommendations. Creates, develops, implements, and sustains annual marketing and outreach plan for faculty, staff and students that increases recognition of program. Responsible for development, supervision, implementation and evaluation of the department’s student peer education, internship and volunteer programs. Provides direction to junior staff regarding the implementation of broad social media efforts on behalf of the department.

This position has a dotted line reporting structure to the Training Manager in the Office of Ethics and Compliance (OEC). In conjunction with OEC Training Manager, participates in other training projects as assigned.

Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced training and development professional to resolve a wide range of training issues and needs assessments. Develops new training programs, and works on complex training courses of diverse scope. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for delivering training and development programs.

Occasional evenings and weekends may be required for crisis response and time required for completion of projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience providing comprehensive programming on the topics of sexual assault prevention, bystander intervention, healthy relationships, sexual harassment, stalking/cyberstalking prevention, trauma-informed response, and interpersonal violence prevention and response strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience researching and evaluating information and preparing concise, well-organized reports, summaries, correspondence, policy documents, and personalized letters.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. General knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion, including the complexities of the intersections of identities including, but not limited to, race, ethnicity, gender, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, and class background.
  • Experience conducting needs assessment and development of new training courses to meet organizational needs. Demonstrated success in participating in the development and implementation of training programs that incorporate a concise definition of goals, targeted audiences, and strategies in line with institutional goals in a higher educational setting. Demonstrated effectiveness in identifying educational and training needs for individuals and groups.
  • Experience in public speaking in front of diverse audiences and facilitating programs and conversations on complex issues that require a high degree of sensitivity. Ability to adapt materials/programs quickly for the target audience. Timely and transparent collaboration, coordination, and consultation with partner groups. Proven track record in positive relationship and community building, including demonstrated skill in both oral and written communication strategies.
  • Thorough analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills. Strong critical thinking skills to identify problems and use creativity to develop innovative solutions.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects that require independent planning and organizing. Prioritizing daily operations and projects to meet deadlines.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Per the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA), this position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter and will be required to sign a Statement Acknowledging Requiring to Report Child Abuse prior to commencing employment.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation and have a valid driver's license.
  • All communications with users of CARE services are privileged and confidential under California Evidence Code Sections 1035.2 and 1037.2.
  • As part of the regular responsibilities of this position, the incumbent is involved in a wide range of privileged and confidential matters. Given the kinds of matters routinely handled by the CARE Office, all employees are required to maintain absolute confidentiality.
  • Job offer is contingent on clear DOJ/ FBI Background Check.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $53,600 - $111,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $25.67 - $53.45

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
