Job Description
THE POSITION

The Department of Environmental Protection is seeking candidates who are dedicated to protecting the health and safety of Pennsylvania's citizens and environment. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This work involves the implementation of the Sewage Facilities Act and related program activities within an assigned geographical area of the Commonwealth.
This employee performs a variety of activities in the base planning process, including coordinating the review of the plan among the various technical support staff and ensuring that the approved plan is implemented. Work also includes reviewing and recommending approval or disapproval of Chapter 94 reports, sewage planning modules and planning grant applications; conducting site surveys; providing training and consultation to municipal officials, sewage enforcement officers, engineering consultants, surveyors and planning commissions; and evaluating the performance of sewage enforcement officers and local agencies.
If this position is filled as an Environmental Trainee, the individual will serve a 12-month training period. During this training period, there will be greater oversight of the employee's duties, formal training, and on the job training to perform the Sewage Planning Specialist duties and implement the objectives of the Clean Water Program.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Telework: You will have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Telework is on a rotating schedule.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
  • Full-time employment.

  • Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
