About The Position
The Senior Telecom Vendor Manager will work closely with internal Ameren departments, business segments, leadership, coworkers, and external carriers/vendors to optimize expense management, reduce costs, improve customer experiences, and gain organizational efficiencies related to voice/data, VOIP, fiber, internet, and mobility plans and equipment (iPhones, iPads, Hotspots/Aircards, M2M modems). In addition, provide quantifiable improvements with each service provider while building strong vendor relationships that support Ameren’s Digital strategic direction.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Assist with additional vendor analysis or cost optimization initiatives across the VMO as needed
  • Identify, plan and lead projects and processes to pinpoint cost savings opportunities, guiding Communication Clerks with implementation, e.g., service/vendor consolidation, zero usage device optimization, etc.
  • Lead on-going TEM application audits to ensure business rules, workflows, reports, and controls are working properly and accurately
  • Co-partner with Sourcing and Legal to evaluate and negotiate new vendor service contracts and renewals
  • Oversee audit of product inventories and collaborate with carriers, TEM provider and Communication Clerks to ensure data integrity
  • Manage and facilitate external vendor optimization audits to benchmark current and future state inventory with the adaptation of industry best practices
  • Serve as liaison between Ameren technology teams and carriers/vendors, coordinating meetings related to new product/service availability, design, and contractual requirements.
  • Provide analytical support to help Ameren Digital, business segments and finance to achieve optimal cost efficiency
  • Partner with Finance and VMO leadership to develop and maintain annual telecom budget
  • Create and lead quarterly business reviews with key vendors and Ameren leadership to address service performance, account support, spending trends, improvement areas and overall relationship
  • Lead Telecom Expense Management (TEM) platform migrations
  • Translate contractual commitments to invoice reconciliation and budgeting
  • Leverage advanced analytics and conduct fixed cost assessments regarding telecom components
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required with 5+ years of relevant experience in TEM management, telecom billing and inventory management
  • Strong knowledge of planning, forecasting, negotiating, and auditing techniques with an emphasis on wireline, internet, and mobility expense management
  • Proven ability to manage multiple, critical initiatives to create and guide implementation of telecom management strategies with key cost saving outputs
  • IT thought leadership around Telecom Vendor Management
  • Strong working knowledge of the telecommunication carrier environment, terminology and billing systems, including previous experience working with major US carriers
In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
  • Strong quantitative and analytical, project management, organizational and document skills
  • Advanced experience with design, requirements, and operation of Telecom Expense Management (TEM) systems regarding order processing, invoicing, and dispute management
  • Capable of effective communication and influencing skills at all levels of the organization
  • Analytical ability to organize, evaluate and present data in a detailed, demanding environment
  • Microsoft office knowledge including expert level of Excel; Microsoft BI experience a plus
