Job Description

The Senior Securities Quantitative Analytics Specialist will be responsible for performing highly complex activities related to complex financial products, business analysis and/or risk modeling. This includes ongoing monitoring and research related to mortgage model performance and the all-end implementation and testing of and research into the group’s internal and vendor pricing models. The incumbent must have strong expertise in the development of mortgage pricing and risk models, as well as be familiar with mortgage banking analytics and valuation, OAS framework and risk analysis. S/he must have expertise on the theory and mathematics and/or statistics behind the analyses.

In this role, you will:

  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
  • Develop analytical strategies for real time decisioning and/or long term objectives
  • Conduct ongoing maintenance and research on models for risk management of mortgage and fixed-income products
  • Maintain up-to-date and high quality model documents that satisfy model validation and requests from oversight teams.
  • Work with senior management in IP and Home Lending to develop a vision on new model development, so that Client can stay ahead of industry changes and the developments at its competitors.
  • Use quantitative and technological techniques to solve complex business problems
  • Lead or participate in complex initiatives and deliverables within mortgage Quantitative Analytics and modeling.
  • Review and analyze moderately complex business, operational, or technical challenges within Securities Quantitative Analytics that require an in-depth evaluation of variable factors
  • Deliver business-oriented communications for internal and external counterparts
  • Develop model performance metrics like statistical back tests or P&L explanation analysis
  • Validation/governance functions ensuring requirements are met and governance is adhered to.
  • Work independently on development, testing, and implementation of cutting-edge mortgage valuation models and / or empirical models to provide insight into market behavior of mortgage products

Required Qualifications, US:

  • 4+ years of Securities Quantitative Analytics experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate across multiple audiences (Technology, Quants, Senior Management)
  • Demonstrated passion and commitment to excellence without becoming personally attached to outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience with programming languages and statistical software such as Python, R, VBA, C++/C# and working knowledge of SQL and relational databases
  • Master's degree or higher in a Quantitative field (Mathematics, Physics, Computational Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, etc.)
  • Possess "Organizational Awareness," i.e., having and using knowledge of systems, situations, pressures and culture within the company to identify potential organizational problems and opportunities and perceiving the impact and the implications of decisions on other components of the company as well as the impact on investors, customers, and clients
  • Knowledge and understanding of mortgage analytics
  • Experience working with mortgage pricing models
  • An impeccable reputation for integrity, accuracy, consistency, big picture orientation and business acumen
  • Experience within the mortgage banking environment.
  • Solid experience and understanding in statistical analysis of financial problems, financial mathematics, and financial models including OAS framework, fixed income and mortgage analytics
  • Experience using mortgage valuation/risk management systems (e.g. QRM, Yield Book, PolyPaths, etc.)
  • Possess a strong sense of urgency and results orientation
  • Excellent/demonstrated analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with a strong attention to detail.
