Our Senior Program Manager is responsible for the cost, schedule, and performance of major cardiovascular and/or strength development programs at Life Fitness. This position is responsible for coordinating overall continuous improvement programs, product development and system engineering for consumer or commercial cardiovascular or strength equipment. All project phases (concept formulation, proposals, trade studies, preliminary design, fabrication, test, performance evaluation, documentation, cost reduction, product improvement, and life cycle maintenance) are part of the Program Manager’s responsibility. Requires significant interaction with Life Fitness product management staff, management, subcontractors, and customers.

Primary Responsibilities

The Program Manager shall be able to carry out the following responsibilities:

• Prepares budget and schedules for new developments. Tracks program spending and product costs to plan
• Responsible for the organization, management, performance, and completion of a major consumer, commercial, strength or cardiovascular program using a Product Development Process (PDP).
• Coordinates proposal preparation, establishes, and monitors master plans and schedules
• Prepares statements of work and negotiates technical details for subsystem designs with outside supplies or customers
• Prepares program financial and functional status reports
• Formulates and recommends corrective action measures such as schedule revisions, labor adjustments, fund allocations and work requirements
• Analyzes the effect of schedule changes upon various functional areas
• Distributes well-defined and prioritized work
• Identifies issues requiring resolution before they become a problem and recommends solutions
• Coordinates and implements cost reduction for redesign and procurement
• Generates and maintains program schedules. Monitors actual vs. scheduled program progress
• Oversees the development of design concepts and test criteria
• Resolves technical impacts of schedule changes against established plans and parameters to determine the most practical and cost-efficient methods
• Coordinates resolution of service and manufacturing issues related to the design
• Creates and presents design review packages to management
• Manages and directs all phases of a program from inception to completion. Monitors work in progress in support of programs
• Directs the Program Development Team, which may include Purchasing, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, and other functional areas

Qualifications

Required Skills

• Working with overseas and domestic development partners
• Multitasking. Ability to handle multiple simultaneous programs and priorities
• Proficient in MS Project as well as Excel/Word/PowerPoint
• BS or equivalent experience in Program Management, Engineering, Management, or Science
• Minimum of four years program management experience
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Track record of launching successful programs
• Organized. Process oriented
• The Program Manager should have experience in Electrical, Mechanical and Software Development Programs
• Minimum of six years in a product development environment
• Leadership. Ability to successfully manage teams on challenging projects
• Flexible. Able to plan for contingencies and know when to invoke them
• Managing internal and/or externally based cross-functional teams

Preferred Skills

• Previous management experience with technical products
• Master’s degree in business administration
• Certified Project Management Professional
