As the Senior Manager Analytics for Staples, you will be responsible for driving analytics to support Staple’s retail strategy. You will impact business results by performing timely, insightful and actionable analyses to influence strategy and key growth initiatives. This role requires extensive hands-on data experience and you must be adept at communicating findings to senior leadership in both verbal and presentation formats. Primary Responsibilities


  • Be the subject matter expert in providing critical interpretation of complex data on customer and marketing analytics approach to solving marketing challenges.
  • Consult to key business partners to understand ad hoc business questions, determine the best way to respond to these questions, then pull/analyze the data and present the results in a manner and context that is appropriate to the requestor.
  • Own profitability analysis of programs and promotions to inform on ways to improve their economics as well as where to steer future investments.
  • Lead a team of 2-3 analytics professionals in support of the marketing, merchandising, and pricing organizations. Mentor, coach and train your team to answer questions from the business in a timely manner.
  • Own Marketing Mix Model to guide marketing team on where to invest media spend.
  • Support pricing team by developing business cases for various pricing initiatives.
  • Gather insights from ad hoc analytics. Articulate your findings with marketing, merchandising, and finance partners as well as senior leadership to influence business activities.
  • Identify ways to automate analyses through smarter software systems.
  • Develop complex interactive/dynamic dashboards with Power BI. Work with large sets of data to build easily consumable data visualizations; communicate meaningful trends and complex relationships found in the data.
  • Create and manage KPI reporting to enable Staples’ business units to gain insights into customer purchase behaviors.
  • Research, test and recommend the adoption of new techniques in analytics.


Qualifications


Essential skills and experience:


  • Ability to clarify objectives, design analyses to answer the business question, interpret findings and package into easy to understand, actionable recommendations
  • Bachelor Degree in any of the following fields: computer science/programming, analytics, math, statistics and/or equivalent, relevant and related work experiences
  • 8-10 years of hands-on experience in analytics.
  • Experience in BI or data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, ... etc)
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail. Ability to identify and diagnose data inconsistencies and errors.
  • Expert level proficiency in SQL with hands-on experience pulling data from large and complex data sets and relational databases.
  • 2-3 years of experience leading a team of analytics professionals.
  • Data science experience with coding in programming languages (Python, R, SAS, … etc)


Preferred Skills And Experience


  • Experience developing and managing Marketing Mix Models
  • Track record analyzing profitability of programs and promotions.
  • Experience with managing ETL process and API calls
  • Solid knowledge in statistics, modeling, and machine-learning algorithm
  • MBA degree a plus.
  • Master’s Degree in Analytics, Engineering, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science
  • Prior work experience in retail, .com, or consultancy industry
