National Airlines, based in Orlando, FL operates scheduled and on-demand charter services worldwide. Together with sister company, National Air Cargo, National offers integrated freight forwarding and customized cargo and passenger services utilizing National's 757-200s, and 747-400 aircraft and specializing in over-sized, time sensitive, and special handling requirements.
Job Title: Sr Manager, Aircraft Dispatch

Summary: The Senior Manager of Aircraft Dispatch will oversee a team of Aircraft Dispatchers that work around the clock running National’s global operation, safely, reliably and efficiently. From dispatching and routing our fleet to coordinating with maintenance line planning and crew scheduling, this team connects the dots with our internal customers and ultimately, National’s customers. The Senior Manager of Aircraft Dispatch will oversee and facilitate the Aircraft Dispatch Program for National Airlines. This included industry coordination on behalf of National Airlines in the areas of NextGen integration, Air Traffic Control, Airport/Airspace Capacity, and Operational Efficiency. The Senior Manager of Aircraft Dispatch will provide leadership, expertise, and guidance on aircraft dispatch, surface movement and airspace complexities. Handle interaction, conduct and attend briefings with multiple FAA Lines of Business, Internal stake holders and company vendors.
Duties, Responsibilities and Authority:
- Seeks opportunities for continuous improvement; provides recommendations and implements initiatives to reduce cost, gain efficiencies, and improve customer service and employee experience.
- Responsible for the direct supervision of persons exercising Operational Control including Dispatchers, Duty Managers and Mission Planners.
- Monitor weather on National Airlines route system for possible operational problems.
- Ensuring that all SOC personnel under his/her supervision have sufficient tools and facilities to perform their job functions with the highest degree of safety.
- Notifying the Director of Operations and Senior Director, SOC, any time that it appears that sufficient facilities for releasing and monitoring all flights may not be available.
- Ensuring that there are sufficient tools (personnel, resources, etc.) for releasing and monitoring all flights.
- Conduct and attend briefings with IATA and ICAO to advocate harmonized procedures across international boundaries.
- Responsible for monitoring the day-to-day operations in the SOC and dispatch departments for the purposes of:
- Coordinate and disseminate pertinent information to respective entities in Flight Ops, SOC and other departments.
- Demonstrates and cultivates collaborative relationships across all workgroups and teams
- Communicate with appropriate government agencies regarding security threats worldwide (mainly after normal business hours). Coordinate with Government Officials and STAT-MD of UPMC regarding accidents, incidents, and/or injuries to crew members and/or passengers.
- Conduct and attend briefings with various entities to optimize airspace utilization, specialized equipment and procedures to improve operational efficiencies and fuel consumption
- Establishes the Airline’s strategy and objectives ahead of irregular operations and ensures activities are carried out in accordance with the operating plan.
- Maintain communication with management and senior management. On a real time basis, make certain they are notified of and respond to any of their questions regarding operational problems such as accidents, major incidents, and/or newsworthy events.
- Monitors potential influence of weather, aircraft mechanical problems, air traffic control constraints, fuel supplies, security issues, labor problems, or other sources of disruption to the overall airline operation.
- Ensure proper staffing by planning appropriate coverage.
- Responsible for scheduling SOC employees under his/her supervision
- Liaison with SOC,ATC, and various CAA’s to optimize operational performance.
- Ensures National remains in compliance with all governmental requirements, ex., OSHA, TSA, FAA, and Department of Transportation, through the development and implementation of procedures.
- Responsible for working with the Manager/Director of Training to prepare and maintain the Dispatcher Training Program
- Leads and serves a large and complex organization through coordination with multiple stakeholders, individual contributors, and frontline team members.
- Coordinate security threats with concerned local/state/national agencies and departments within National Airlines
- Responsible for establishing, preparing, maintaining and tracking the required training and associated records for Duty Managers, Dispatchers and Mission Planners, in accordance with the procedures defined in the training manual.
- Responsible for ensuring that the Duty Managers, Dispatchers, Mission planners, are trained, checked/tested, and qualified in their position in accordance with National Airlines’ approved manuals.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Previous experience in performing the duties and responsibilities defined within the Senior Manager of Dispatch job description.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and able to pass a 10-year Criminal History Records Check
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification.
- Ability to find opportunities and take action to build strategic relationships between one's area and other teams, departments, units, or organizations to help achieve business goals.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Computer literate
- Ability to respond quickly to change.
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position.
- Understanding of airline operations, understanding of air traffic control and traffic flow management, understanding of Federal Aviation Regulations/ICAO Requirements
- ETOPS dispatching experience strongly preferred.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship.
- FAA Aircraft Dispatcher’s License is required.
- College degree desired, preferably in Airline Operations or Flight Dispatch
