Job Description

The Senior GIS Analyst is responsible for planning, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of GIS data in accordance with the requirements of various projects as assigned by Tetra Tech’s project managers service public/private clients. Candidates must be knowledgeable with ESRI's software products. Duties include performing simple to complex data analyses to provide Clients with desired deliverables and mentoring junior staff. This position also requires the ability to connect with clients through systematic BD efforts, manage projects and teams, and see tasks through to completion. This position requires the employee to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on.

Your Role:

The Senior GIS Analyst will play a key role in obtaining and assisting new clients and supporting existing Clients and Project Managers with planning and design of projects for a variety of municipal, state, and federal clients throughout Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic region. Major duties/responsibilities of the position require a working knowledge of and the ability to lead/carry out the following tasks:

  • Develop GIS projects consisting of vector, raster, and tabular data.
  • Work with a project team to support a variety of municipal, state, and federal projects.
  • Responsible for the development and production of reports, presentations, maps, and models for a variety of environmental, utility, and water resources projects.
  • Lead and grow staffing and expertise to continue to diversify service offerings to clients.
  • Meet with internal and external clients to define data needs, project requirements, or required outputs.
  • Assist with project pursuits including the preparation of proposals and the development of project scopes.
  • Perform quality control on database attributes.
  • Maintain and refine department procedures for data collection, processing, and storage.
  • Provide geospatial technical support.
  • Operate and maintain GIS system hardware, software, plotter, digitizer, color printer, and video camera.
  • Mentor staff with ESRI ArcGIS software, report writing, and proposals.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geographic Interface Systems, or related field.
  • Strong work ethic and problem-solving skills.
  • Complex database management skills preferred.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Python programming or related programming experience a plus
  • A GISP (Certified GIS Professional) certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience. Previous project experience in environmental, utility, and watershed projects for municipal, state, and Federal entities is preferred.
  • Prior management experience with two or more employees.
  • A valid driver’s license in good standing
