Senior Editor Jobs

We are hiring a Senior Editor for our LA-based studio team. This individual will be responsible for helping to craft, develop and manage key high-profile series within the Studio’s original content pipeline. Our ideal candidate is someone comfortable working on well-established series, championing the continuity of the content - while looking for subtle ways to add fresh ideas. Additionally, you will be working to develop original and/or partner series from the group up. This role will interface with a wide range of internal and external teams at all corporate levels.

Responsibilities

• Oversee, develop, and manage original webcomic content for ongoing or new series
• Manage webcomic creative process from conception through final production. Ensuring that schedules and budgets are met, while maintaining or exceeding Tapas product quality standards
• Mentor and develop junior staff members alongside studio leadership
• Work alongside studio PM’s to ensure all production information is maintained
• Performs other related editorial duties as assigned
• Communicate with internal and external teams daily on all active series
• Write story summaries, pitch decks, creative briefs, and other relevant material to ensure alignment across teams
• Review scripts and art assets daily, leaving detailed feedback and notes for partners
• Prepare and assist with launches for assign series
• Help source talent to work on series as needed
• In combination with studio leadership help to streamline and improve current editorial best practices
• Maintain, organize, and upload files according to studio standards

Qualifications:

• 6+ years of editorial experience in webcomics, comics, manga, print publishing, or related field required
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on engaging with company leadership, external partners, and key creatives
• Previous novel experience is a plus
• Ability to manage writers and creative teams to meet deadlines
• Knowledge of Adobe CC (Photoshop and Acrobat), Clip Studio Paint preferred
• Previous management experience in a senior or lead role is a plus
• Ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
• Knowledge of current trends and best practices in webcomics, comics, manga, publishing, or entertainment
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite, Monday.com, Basecamp, Dropbox and Slack is required
• Intermediate knowledge of art and the ability to discuss composition, color, and design required
• Familiarity with vertical scroll format and best practices is required
