The purpose of this position is to create amazing brand-right photos by retouching and enhancing them to PETCO's brand standard, as well as managing color profiling for various mediums. The Senior Photo Editor ensures excellence in each image. We are seeking an experienced Senior Photo Editor to join our creative team. As a Senior Photo Editor, you will play a crucial role in shaping and enhancing the visual aesthetic of our brand. You will be responsible for overseeing the photo editing process, ensuring the highest quality standards are met, and collaborating with photographers, designers, vendors, and other stakeholders to achieve creative objectives. The ideal candidate has a strong eye for detail, exceptional editing skills, and time management.
Essential Job Functions

• Must be able to edit non-destructively, making changes to an image without overwriting the original image data.
• Be an expert Photoshop user, editing and retouching photos using industry-standard software and techniques to enhance composition, color accuracy, clarity, and overall visual impact.
• Work closely with the Studio team to ensure retouching meets their expectations and is within timelines and deadlines.
• Oversee the entire photo editing process, from initial post-briefing to final delivery, ensuring that images meet quality standards and align with Petco brand's visual style and guidelines.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to other photo editors, offering constructive feedback.
• Collaborate closely with photographers, designers, and other team members to understand project requirements and creative objectives.
• Assist in developing and implementing automation and actions to optimize the efficiency and quality of photo editing.
• Manage and organize a large volume of digital assets, ensuring efficient file management, version control, and archiving.
• Work closely with retouching support vendors to check quality and provide feedback, continually improving the spec sheet and quality of work.
• Understand lighting, transparencies, color balance and density, composition, and tone.
• Stay up-to-date with current trends and techniques in photo editing and photography, sharing knowledge and insights with the team.

Education/Experience

• Illustrative skills for composting, lighting, and shadow techniques.
• Expert knowledge of industry-standard photo editing software: Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, InDesign. Proficiency in Capture One and Adobe Workfront is an added plus.
• Experience training and mentoring others in retouching techniques.
• Advanced knowledge in web and print exporting, including working with both color modes, RGB and CMYK.
• A minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience.
• High school diploma required. Preferred associates or bachelor's degree in photography or graphic design, or an additional 2+ years of experience.

The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.
$36.11 - $54.13
