Postion Summary


Seeking a Sr. Director of FP&A who will play a key role in the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) organization. As lead of the FP&A team the Sr. Director will have ownership of Mirum’s financial planning and tracking of operating expenses and be responsible for the creation and maintenance of financial models, forecasts, reports. The role partners closely with members of the Mirum’s senior leadership to provide financial direction and strategic decision support, influencing decisions by providing accurate financial reporting, identifying opportunities to invest, save costs and mitigate risks.


Job Functions/Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key internal (e.g. Accounting team leadership, department heads) and external stakeholders (e.g. CRO finance partners) and help troubleshoot finance-related issues
  • Collaborate closely with key business partners (including Accounting and Legal) to ensure our processes and systems are both effective and efficient, optimizing as needed to accommodate organizational growth
  • Execute on special projects as necessary including support for financing related activities
  • Provide direction to business partners on key corporate financial policies, such as Sarbanes-Oxley and departmental policies
  • Drive the long range planning process and scenario models to inform strategic decision making
  • Assist in preparation and development of materials for internal Executive Staff, Audit Committee and Board Meetings
  • Deliver and enhance management monthly/quarterly reporting package for Sr. management review including key metrics to assess actual results vs. plan, cash runway, headcount, program allocations and projection of future spend
  • Partner with Business Development to assess potential opportunities and high-priority valuation or corporate development projects
  • Maintain projections for both GAAP P&L and cash flow, assist in quarterly earnings report and support of external financial messaging and review of analyst financial model assumptions
  • Partnering with other functions to enhance overall governance and process for key corporate initiatives; leading or supporting development of business cases to drive optimal investment decisions
  • Lead FP&A responsibilities, including financial planning and tracking of operating expenses, monthly/quarterly close support, forecasting, annual Operating plan and variance analyses
  • Management of the FP&A group, providing strong managerial leadership and guidance


Qualifications


Education/Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Accounting or Finance. MBA and/or CPA preferred
  • Accustomed to public company requirements and demonstrated understanding of GAAP/Non-GAAP accounting
  • Demonstrated experience in understanding the treatments of commercially related expenses including grants / contributions, patient assistance programs, co-pay support
  • Expertise with Excel and PowerPoint
  • 10+ years of finance-related experience, with at least 5 years in FP&A and Life science/biotech experience
  • Demonstrated experience in working with biopharma including clear understanding of business operations and revenue product forecasts (drivers of change, gross to net deductions, including government, distribution, etc.)
  • Prior experience with ERP systems, Financial Planning tools and other financial systems implementations preferred
  • Management experience

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with the ability to build strong working relationships and think strategically
  • Experience in pharmaceutical industry, business partnering with an executive team
  • Strong business acumen and judgment, and knowledge of the company's markets/products and industry trends
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and an eagerness to collaborate with colleagues (across the company) to share insights and ensure timely execution of project plans
